Hi there. Birds need to copulate to have chicks. Some females will lay infertile eggs. This takes a lot of energy. Chopped egg with the shell three times a week can avoid malnutrition along with the pellet food, 10%seeds and fruits and veggies. Birds need 12 hours of darkness a day. More light may cause the hormonal changes that contribute to the egg laying. Only females lay eggs which I'm sure you know. Have a great year.

Male birds cannot lay eggs, just like male animals cannot have babies.
If your bird is laying eggs, it is female. If the bird is alone, the eggs are infertile.
You do not want your bird to get in the habit of laying eggs. Let her sit on these eggs until she is bored with them and then throw them away. If you remove the eggs early, she will just lay another to replace it.
Make sure that she has access to pleanty of calcium, food and water. Make sure that she can also bathe, it helps in laying the eggs. Also read the following article about chronic egg laying.
