Fruit is good! It might be simple carbohydrates, but they are packed with fiber, vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants. You should be having a couple servings a day... and they can satisfy a craving for sweetness if you are dieting (sweetness= candy, not Walter Payton).
Bread can be bad. Read the label. Some have 220 calories per slice, and only 1g of fiber. Then again, some can have 70 calories for 2 slices and 6g of fiber. Fiber on the label can be a great indicator as to whether or not the flour in the bread has been overly-refined. Just remember that you need carbohydrates for energy, and the more complex, the better - especially if you are concerned about your blood sugar levels.

You can eat too much of anything. Bread isn't particularly unhealthy, but carbohydrates contain a lot of energy. Bread also lacks a lot of vitamins and minerals to go with the calories, but whole wheat has fiber and some good stuff so its better. Some fruits like avocados are high in fat (although it is the good, unsaturated kind) and some have a lot of carbohydrates. However, unlike bread there are vitamins to go with it.

David, most fuits are good for you. The one that has the highest natural sugar content in it is oranges. However, they are a large source of Vitamin C and are essential to eat if you are sick. On the subject of bread - yes. You should stay away from bread. The reason being is that when the grain is crushed, it has around 24 hours before all of the enzymes ecape. Enzymes are extremely good for you and are long gone by the time you pick up a loaf of Home Pride. However, if you grind your own wheat, bake it and break it in under 24 hours, it's actually good for you. Does this help you any? =]

Fruits are better than some other alternatives, but read up on them. Some have more calories than others.
Bread can be bad. Choose breads made with whole grains, not white bread. Complex carbohydrates are part of a balanced diet...simple carbs are basically just empty calories.

Yes, Those dates are only guidleines. Something can actually go bad before the date also. You have to use your senses. Moldy bread can be easily sniffed out. Fruit? you can see when a fruit is bad. What kind of fruit has an expiration date? Do you mean cut fruit or canned fruit? No matter. Use your senses!!!!!!!!

Yes, fruits are great, and eating bread is not all that bad as long as you eat it in moderation, and you try to eat the whole wheat multi grain bread, and not load it up with fatty meats, butter or mayonaise, that is when it turns bad.

Most fruits I know of are good for you but watch the amounts.
Wholewheat bread is fine but watch the starch. Only so much a day.

Bananas take longest to digest. Grapes send your glucose levels sky high. OK to eat a couple of slices of brown bread a day
