Hi Just - Some people's relationship with God (or Jesus) is based on a hands off type of belief through their church. People who have and want a personal relationship look for the experiential relationship, a one on one, in nature, through their work, etc. It's a sense that God is always there, everywhere around you, a part of you and a part of how you live your life.

I know this is not an adequate explanation..I wish I could do better. (No scripture needed, lol).

I am a Christian (not a Mormon) I became genuinely born again when I first believed in Jesus Christ some years ago. This happens when the Holy Spirit enters into a person once that person believes. As the new believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, he/she now has a personal relationship with the Lord. May I suggest you read all of John chapter 3 which covers a conversation between the Lord and Nicodemus where the Lord explains that it is necessary for a man be be born again.

Unfortunately there are a lot of terms that Christians throw around that don't make sense outside of a Christian context. This could be the case with "having a personal relationship with Jesus".

This phrase is based on the presupposition that God is real and can be known and that Jesus actually was God's son as He said He was and came back from the dead. And that He can be known due to the fact that He's God Himself- come to earth. It is easier to understand this phrase if one understands that all of these ideas are presumed to be understood when making that phrase.

If one believes that God can be known by humans then saying that you can have a relationship with Him is just another way of saying that. One could also say, "Allowing a real God to crash into your life and daily influence that actions and path of your life, believing that God really does want to speak to and lead his people."

You may think I am just quoting the bible, but I am not. I am living proof you can have a relationship with God through Christ. Religion is a set of man made laws- when you know Christ as your personal savior, He does not only save you from sin, but it allows us to return to that perfect relationship that God originally created us to have with Him.

I'm not fighting Him anymore, as so many people do. I have given myself over to Him, and found that my life really is better, richer, fuller since I did. I can talk to Him, not just in a structured prayer, but moment to moment, and I know He hears. He's on my side, even when I screw up. I know he really, truly loves me. I don't have to deserve it or earn it, or understand it. He just does. He lived and died for me, and what better friend could you have than that?

Yes Dear,

Anyone can have personal relationship with jesus Christ. Please remember that you are part of this Universe. You can communicate with anything or anyone in this Universe. Sometimes, You have to take yourself to that level of Spiritualism. Please start doing Meditation and communicate with Source or Jesus and one day you will be able to do the same.

Good Luck!

What it should really mean is that you have received his Spirit, the Holy Ghost. It should mean that you pray to Him daily and that you understand what he wants you to do.
btw, the important thing about a name is what it means. "Jesus" means the same thing as the Hebrew name for "Jehovah is our Salvation." There is nothing in the Bible that tells us to only pronounce his name in Hebrew, and the NT apostles did write in Greek, and they wrote his name in Greek.

It's a comment Christians generally use when somebody tells them that Christianity is a religion.

I think they're under the false assumption that it has to be either a relationship or a religion, and that it can't be both at once.

Exactly what you said. I have a relationship with him. I have conversations with Him and ask Him for help. It's literal. I love Him and worship Him. He has accepted me as His child.

I would not say "Jesus Christ" for His name is YAHOSHUA. If I have a saving relationship with Him, that is one of my obedience. I am a follower and worshipper of Him.
