Who said that God was here at all? That is not what the Bible says. At John 3:17, it says that God sent his Son to earth, not himself. Read it for yourself.

the same reson he caused the flood Sin!
36 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;
39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

It's because this world is full of wars, enimity and most of the people is against GOD'S command. Obviously this world should be ended. GOD'll come to earth to take the good people to heaven and the bad to hell. And that's the answer to the question "What is the biggest reason why God is coming back very soon".

So, the, is the skepticism speeding up the return or is the return simply coming at the appointed time?

He's been coming back every day since he left. The Apocalypse has been right around the corner for the past 2,000 years.

I'm certainly not going to hold my breath or drink the Kool-Aid.

Because you expect god to come soon. You will find any symptom (ie resurgence in atheism), and attribute it to god.

Besides as a person of faith, you don't need evidence, hence the worth faith. The bible says god will come, so sit back and wait. No need to try and rope everyone else in with you.
