My grandmother has always spent her timee runnung after others. The last person she cared for was her son (my uncle), who sadly passed away in Oct.. This is the 1st time in her life she has NO ONE to care for. She is going stir crazy. I try to spend as much time with her as I can, as do other family members, but her days still end up being so empty. She is in great health, still drives. She has some back and arm pain is all, so anything involving too much physical activity wouldn't be good. Please share your thoughts and thank you!

first of all she is never too old for you to teach her to play games on yahoo games.then there is bingo. .My aunt is 87,and she enjoys fixing up a doll house, with little furniture.she love crocheting. have her do some walking every day, some place to keep young.my aunt enjoys having friends to go out with.she likes reading books.she make scrap books collecting on certain subjects. give her a digital camera, and have her take so many pictures, and you down load on your computer ,and let her see, what she did. I took my aunt on ,and went shopping on eBay,and she thought it was the greatest. Have lots of fun, helping your aunt out.

A lot of older people sing in my church's choir. This is an activity that doesn't involve any physical strain and it's a great way to make friends. It ususally involves a commitment 2 days a week depending on the choir.

Scrap booking. At her age she must have hundreds upon thousands of pictures that will make her happy to look at. Put them together in a scrap book or two and tell the story of them. Many times when our loved ones pass no one really knows anything about these old pics we find among their belongings...let her tell you her story the way she sees it.
My grandmother loves scrap booking and does it almost every day.

maybe going to McDonalds for breakfast and watching the kids play on the playground equipment.
Thats what my great aunt used to do, then she would go home and drink rolling rock beers. She made it to 92 and was still driving at that age.

My grandma is 85 and we recently taught her how to play bocce. It requires some bending over and throwing, but the bocce balls are not too heavy.

Have her volunteer at a elementary school or a nursing home. Plenty of people to help there. Or if she is tired of people help at at the animal shelter.
