I, like social vampire above, have attended 3 meetings, but in two different towns,(UK), the "procedure" was to go into the meeting room at the time stated, take a seat and simply sit in silence until someone feels "moved" to say something. At the first one I attended, I remember a lady standing up to relate a story of an injured hedgehog that she'd found and nursed back to health, and how people , like hedgehogs, have prickles to defend themselves. At the second one, no-one felt moved to say anything at all, except the branch secretary who stood to give the dates of the branch AGM! The rest of the time we sat in silence, which I actually quite enjoyed, but I wouldn't say that it was a Spiritual Experience for me. But, give it a try, I met some very nice people at the meetings, albeit briefly, didn't come across any lunatics or anything. Suck it and see.

I visited a Quaker school and also some of the Quaker services. They are dear people, good and bad, just like everywhere else. And yes, I had some very good spiritual experiences in their services. I don't know what you are referring to when you talk about letting everyone say what they feel. Do you mean in their services?

I have attended the services three times at The Society Of Friends, and it was indeed a unique experience. To sit and observe and listen as people rose from their seats and spoke about whatever they wished, whether it was religious or not, was very different, and had a very comfortable feel to it. It was a comradry in Christianity without preaching or direction.

I haven't been but many Quakers live in my area and they are decent, peaceful people with no agenda.
