Our five month old kitten named buddha has taken on a new level of kitteness. He constantly expects me to play with him. If he doesn't, he will be a stinker cat ... climbing, riping around the house and BITING me and my husband (something new and happening a lot!)

I play with him three times a day for 10 minute spans.

I vary his toys and try to get him to play on his own, but he will drop toys at my feet and meow like crazy ... so we play and and the vicious kitty cycle continues.

He is a bengal tabby and I got him from our county's animal services. We are first time owners ...

He hasn't been fixed, yet ... hopefully this week.

I love the little fellow, but he is turning into MONSTER BUDDHA!

Any support or help would be great. Thanks much!

First, congrats on rescuing a shelter animal and being a first time kitten owner! What you've described sounds like typical kitten behavior. The biting is just another "game" he thinks he's playing with you; he's not trying to hurt you. Keep telling him no in a serious manor and he'll get the point eventually. If he starts biting your feet when you're trying to sleep that's a little different. I really don't think kittens understand that your feet are attached to the rest of your body. Any kitten I ever had never understood that, and would nibble on my toes at like 2am, lol.

He WILL calm down as he gets older, and will start sleeping more. It'll help when you get him fixed too. Just give him as much love and attention as possible, and keep trying with the toys. He'll learn to play on his own, although a second cat in the near future is always something to consider. Discipline him as needed, and your little Buddha will outgrow this phase.

Heh heh.. congratulations you have a kitten! My kitten is 9 months old and just in the past month has calmed down. Getting your kitten fixed should help it happen sooner. We haven't had our kitty fixed as he is an indoor only kitty. Other than that all you can do is wait until he gets older. Maybe try some new toys. My kittens favorite toy is a ball with a bell on it and a paper bag... cats are strange.

After he gets neutered, he'll calm down somewhat although he will still be kittenish and playful. He's a Bengal and that is a "Working" breed so to speak - very active. May I say that for a "first time" cat guardian, you are uncommonly dedicated and long-suffering to put up and play along with Buddha. After he gets nuetered you will see a more calm benggal. In the meantime, you just have to "soldier on." You will receive your reward later when you see how much your Buddha adores you and protects you when he is older. Hang in there kiddo - you are doing a great job!

Sounds like my kitten. I have a little female siamese. She demands direct attention from us CONTANTLY. She meows and meows and climbs on us if we don't pay attention to her. But we have another cat and that helps a lot. They love to play together and groom each other. We also have a lazer light that we can use to play with her for longer periods of time, both my kitties love it. We just pick it up during the commercials when we watch tv. But hopefully getting him fixed will help. My kitten will be spayed at the end of Februrary, and we're hoping that will help. Good luck, i hope Buddha calms down for you.

There isn't much you can do I am afraid.

My kitten is 3 months old and is currently climbing my curtains as we speak. I got advice from my vet and she advised to get a water pistol and if the cat misbehaves, squirt it.

I've tried this and I know it kind of defets the object but I don't like to see my kitten upset so have stopped doing it. Instead I play with her all the time and if she's not playing with us she's sleeping on us!

Sorry I wasn't much help.
