And why do people think it is a virtue to ignore the suffering of others? That's what Heaven is all about.

Quiet simply, because suffering is painful.

God is reality! That God can "hide me in the shadow of His wings" is reality! And virtue has NOTHING to do with other peoples suffering . . . . if your suffering, give Jesus a change, I think He love you just as much as He love me!

Heaven is my inheritance because I am a child of God. It's about being with Him for all eternity.

People seek not to suffer because suffering is a terrible thing. That is why it is such a horrible crime to inflict suffering on human beings in the form of torture. Come to think of it, it's terrible to inflict suffering on animals just for the sake of suffering, too. We call such people "sadists", among a lot of other names I won't print here.
But back to the point. God is looked upon in a great many religious faiths as the ultimate Father of us all, and who does a child turn to when he or she is in pain but to the parent to make it better? The sad truth is, mostly it's only when we're suffering that many of us talk to God at all. Perhaps that too is one of the reasons God permits suffering to continue to exist; perhaps suffering is one of the hidden ways God uses to draw us to Him.
As far as people thinking it's a virtue to ignore the suffering of others, I don't really think those people think that; they just don't want to have to face the suffering of others. An intrinsically self-centered person isn't open to the suffering of others; he or she dwells only on their own sufferings, or happiness. To such a person, ignorance truly is bliss. (I once had a co-worker who was so completely self-absorbed that when 9-11 happened, she said it didn't have anything to do with her, so it was a non-issue(?!?) Pretty cold, huh?) There is no reality outside of themselves to such people (no pertinent reality, anyway). There is only their own wants and needs.

God does not hide us from suffering because He suffered himself, on the way to the cross and dying upon it, God saved the world through suffering, He wants to show us that true love suffers everything for the beloved , that is us.

Suffering is like an embrace from Jesus.

Because we were not ment to suffer. But also maybe because nobody would choose pain over joy. Pain is a process no-one really understands and yet we all have to deal with it. I think it is simply because we are human...
My heart goes out to those who have to suffer without God by their side... imagine how hard that must be...

Some people can't face it for one reason or another. But we are not to judge them this is God's work. If you are a true Christian you will be concern for all that are suffering no matter who they may be. Jesus said to help those in need & to love one another. To be kind, passionate and judge not les ye be judge.

What planet are you from....The teaching of christianity is one that promises suffering for "Christ's name sake". Scripture promises that Christians would be hated for Christ's name sake. So what suffering are you saying that they are hiding from; especially since they are going through their own suffering for Christ's name sake.

Also, suffering isn't what Heaven is all about.....Heaven is all about the FINAL RELIEF for an individual from ALL suffering.

It is very natural as a man to avoid suffering. Jesus Christ who was the example to the world prayed to avoid suffering, if there was another way can we please go that way? But the problem is many times you and I do not know why we are here. Jesus came to suffer at the hands of wicked men that hated him for no good reason. Christians are told to enjoy suffering and the Bible says if you do not suffer you are a illegitimate child and not God's child. God perfects you by the things you can suffer and he will not test you above what you are able to endue; both of these are Bible promises.
People avoid suffering because they are too busy taking care of themselves, this is a trick of the Devil to make you think he doesn't exist, to keep you feeling sorry for yourself so you cannot help others, keep you on drugs cigarettes and booze, make you sick, and kill you and your influence over others. Look how America is falling for all of these. This is what brings death and destruction to mankind----As it was in days of Noah so shall it be in the coming of Jesus Christ; Violence filled the earth so much that all man's thoughts was evil continually. Mankind destroys man, God protects us if it above what we can handle, also God is one that makes the way of escape;
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Hebrews 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Hebrews 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye b*st*rds, and not sons.
Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
1 Corinthians 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
Hebrews 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
