My husband has a hunting dog, she gets fed 5-6 cups of food a day, I do believe for her age and breed it says 4-5 on the back of the food bag. She is an inside dog, so she gets fat, but she gets double that amount when she hunts, for she burns more when she hunts. 1 cup of food is not enough for any hunting dog of any age or size. But what does the dog look like? Can you see his ribs, hip bones, does he look week when he walks? If he has any of these characteristics report it and have someone come look at the dog. If he looks in good health the authorities won't do anything! One other thing to look at, does he got bald patches? Alot of malnurished animals tend to get mange and will lose their hair.

It's hard for anybody here to say if one cup is enough for the dog. How does the dog look? Look on a dog body condition chart, if the dog is below a 2, he is probably under fed. If he is a 2 or 3, he is the correct weight for a hunting dog.

I believe she said it's a "HUNTING DOG".... so I'm sure she doesn't mean a chi. One cup is not enough for an active hunting dog.

About the only dog that could survive on 1 cup of food each day might be a chi.

That doesn't sound like enough food from just your description... check out the Body Condition system for adult dogs download on this page... it's what veterinarians use to determine the proper weight for dogs. Since a lot of dogs today are overweight, most people think a dog at proper weight is really skinny. Also, if it's a high quality food, the dog will require less of it to have enough nutrition.

depending on the size of the dog. check the back of food packaging most have feeding suggetions based on weight. You should be able to feel the dogs ribs when you pet him, but you shouldn't see the spaces between the ribs, that is an ideal weight for a dog.

No, i does no longer grant to prepare dinner the canine to feed the ravenous guy or woman. Hypothetical smypothetical! i've got seen beggars in London with canine. They get greater £ in the event that they have a canine with them. i've got provided to take the canine off their hands. No takers so far. The final time the beggar had a purebred black Labrador domestic dog of coach high quality. I recommend, the domestic dog replaced into in marvelous difficulty and might have made any breeder drool. i assumed the two it replaced into stolen or the beggar did no longer certainly could be there.

first, hunting dogs need a lot of energy, so maybe a little more. but u don't want to overfeed it. also, the dog should go #2 at least 2 to 3 times a day. monitor, and if dog looks skinny, or under nourished, please contact your local SPCA for the dog's own good
