Epiphany you sound like you have many things to look forward to in your Life.First of all read the "Question"that you wrote, brilliantly and very well presented showing your well educated background.Above all do not let one of your decisions be to drop out of school, inspite of how hard it appears to be.Family members are assisting with your housing, and now that you brougth this issue into the open you have many friends out here hoping we can help in some way.I would like to say money isn't everything, but we know it is necessary to survive. You have talents,I've never met you ,but you sound like a lovely person do not ever giveup on yourself.Maybe you would like to talk to a professional but don't have the money...please...only a suggestion,God does not charge a fee and he is always listening.Look at how many times I used the word "YOU" in my answer, perhaps that could be that someone that could answer the last sentence in your question.

Part of yur problem is a self-defeating attitude. You start each day poised to fail and actually give up before you try. Most colleges and universities have a student health service and most citties have crisis lines. These things are free. Set your goals a bit lower, working at manageable bits like getting a part-time job to help get yourself out of debt. If school is really not satisfying you, get a fulltime job instead and work a while. You might then decide that you want to go back to school and you will be better prepared for it. If you don't like the way you look, either don't look in the mirror or do something to improve your appearance. By the way, if you are living with family, you are getting a handout.

I feel for you - I wish I could give you a hug! Ok, I think everyone at one time or another has had those types of feelings. Granted, some people are more prone to depression than others but that certainly doesn't make you abnormal. Things will turn around for you. I know you said you have a money issue but it sounds like you are depressed and should get on some type of medication at least for a little while. Even if its herbal, go to a health food store and look for some natural herbal pills/vitamins that may boost you up. Above all, believe in yourself - don't compare yourself to other people, this is something I have learned. Everyone's circumstances are different. Try to focus on the positive things, you obviously have a loving family that cares about you. Try exercising it really gives you a lift trust me! It gets your blood flowing and youll feel so much better.

I was in almost your exact position 15 years ago- considering public housing, not wanting to get out of bed in the morning, waking up depressed. Today I'm a doctor, own my own home with a fireplace and a view. The only difference between me and you was, I didn't even think of a handout.
Don't quit school, throw yourself into your studies- lots of people are poor, you have to have a sense of humor about it. Hang out with other college people and joke about not having money- Al Bundy does!
Colleges have affordable psychologists to visit. Expand your social circles. It doesn't cost anything to study, so study hard. You have to drop that handout mentality- it's a cycle of poverty, come on, you're better than that!

I know exactly how you feel, well maybe not exactly since I'm not you but I'm in the same boat. When I was in college (I actually dropped out, long story) there was counseling services where you could talk to a professional. Also, apply for financial aid, yes you have to pay it back but depending on your major and what you plan to do, you can work it off. like if your a teacher, you could teach in the ghetto for 5 years. as long as your in school thouggh, you don't have to pay a dime. i have tons of debt and somehow i've been able to get on top despite of it. i've been saving up money and put aside a lil' bit of money for bills each week. also, for the depression part, everything will fall into place. i have severe depression and excercising and eating right really help me. doing stuff for yourself helps. since I hated the way I look, I spend extra money on shampoo that makes my hair looks good. I get facials. I know I shouldn't spend the money but you what, doing this makes me feel better about myself. but please, go to your college health center, they are really good about helping you despite your finiancial situation.

Quit school, get a job, and take care of yourself for awhile. It's OK to kick around, and not know what you want when you are young. Find out what it is that you really love, then try to find a way to make money at it. You got to love what you do, because you will be doing it a long time. Oh, and "Professional Party Girl" doesn't really cut it on the resume.

Ask your local public health department if there is a mental health center you can visit at low or no cost. There probably is.
I know it sucks to be broke, but it won't last forever. Don't drop out. While you're talking to the counselor at the mental health center, ask if he/she has any suggestions about programs that might help with your financial situation. I had food stamps for a year in the middle of college, and it was a big help. No shame in taking the help for a short time if you really need it.
You're going to be okay. I promise.

I think you are depressed, but I also think depression is a state of mind that only you can truly control. You have to take ownership of how you feel and start each day knowing that it will be a good day. Anyway, regarding living with family, I know it sucks, but that is your reality right now. Just deal with it, knowing that you are in school, hopefully with a real major (one that will lead to a good paying job), and don't sweat the small stuff. Life is too short.

The college you are at has services available to you. Go there tell them what you are feeling. Check for additional grants, scholarhsips, etc. Who knows maybe you can get added funds that way. . What profession are you working towards? Seek help from companies that provide grants/scholarships in that field.
As far as your depression. And you are depressed. Hang in there. Be proactive. You are already in school and trying to better yourself. That in itself is an accomplishment. Be willing to do the things a professional tells you to do to get better. Good Luck and God Bless!

Life is a ***** , when you know that you should feel better. You feel depressed because you are not taking well the unfairness of our life and your life. Start enjoying the small & rare moment of happiness in your life. Think positive , exercise , eat right , read , date guys and be positive.
Do you think a few millions year ago the Cromagnon man was not depressed in the middle of the jungle half naked without a home?? They had worst fears than we do now.
Just relax and enjoy your journey.
Joe.
