Hot black tea will keep you wired and there are several types of black teas with different flavors. If it is too bitter, try adding a splash of milk-NO LEMON!!!
Also, bring some nuts, especially almonds. They help keep you alert and are good for you.
Excercise during the day and having regular pattern will also help you stay awake-but will also help you sleep when you need to.
Mountain Dew is loaded with caffeine, sugar and other not so good things, but will also keep you awake.
I'm not a fan of energy drinks, since they have a lot of sugar and are generally bad for you. Tea, staying up until 1 or 2 in the morning kept me going, but don't forget to feed yourself. As I said almonds are great, wheat bread, rye crisps..etc...
Don't forget to have fun too!!

You can visit your family physican and ask him about a pill called "Provigil". Doing shift work I was given these to help me stay awake while driving. My insurance kicked in and the cost was minimal. I only took a half of one each time I felt like I was slipping into that dozing stage. After about 10 minutes, I was awake and alert without the jitters. Also taking only 1/2 tablet instead of 30 I had 60.

I don't like coffe, and don't drink soda.
I get a daily dose of caffeine from a tablet called "Jet Alert". Eac pill has 200 mg of caffeine, roughly the same as 2 cups of coffee. I buy them at Wal-Mart.
They also make them under brand names "No-Doz" or "Vivarin"....but the JA are cheapest-about $4 for 60 tabs.
And NO--they are no worse for you than coffee---and they don't stain your TEETH!!

Hydration and exercise really help. So does proper sleep, but that's a tough one.
As for alternative sources for caffeine::
Soft drinks (Dr. Pepper, Coke, Tab, Mr. Pibb, Pepsi)
iced/hot teas (lipton, most black teas)
caffeinated water (google "water joe" or "buzz water")
chocolate (but it can take a lot)
