I am trying to potty train My 21/2 year old son I started a sticker chart every time he sits on the potty we put a sticker on the chart. I even let him put the sticker on the chart. I was thinking about doing a bigger prize once he gets a line full. (such as a matchbox car) he hasn't actually gone yet, I was wondering if there are other technics that any of you have used that worked really well! Thank you for your sudgestions!

I had the same problem with my son and still do sometimes and hes 3 and a 1/2. We did the whole sticker chart, along with a prize at the end of the week but he got bored of that. I also tried bribing him with candy. That only worked for awhile. What I found works most times is bribing with money. Not a lot though. I started out with pennies first. Put them into his piggy bank everytime he went. At the end of the week we added up his money and if he had enough to buy something, we got it. In reality, it wasn't enough and he figured that out quickly so I moved onto dimes and quarters. Now he has more money at the end of the week and he likes to save his money up to buy something bigger at the end of the month.

I need help with this too. I try reading books while he sits. And when he does go I do break down and give him a surprise. last one was a new Thomas the train. So far he has only gone 4 times in the span of a month or more. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do...help me too. Good luck...

We used the "M&M" trick. In order to get 1 M&M they had to go potty in the potty. It worked great. I am not one that likes to give my children much candy, but hey it worked! Cars could be expensive to use each potty visit. I literally gave our kids just 1 M&M... that way they knew if they wanted more, they had to earn them! The longest was trained in a week.. occasional accident but mostly trained!

i always put my son on the potty when i go to the toilet!!! I know it sounds ridiculous - but it works. at first he just sat there and looked at me like i was a wierdo (!!) but once he realised what i was doing he wanted to do it too, we have been doing this since he was about 20 mths. He wipes and evrything now - he has just turned 2. I am so proud of him - the only problem is he insists on going to the toilet with all of us and his big brother hates it!!
