She is adorable!
That said, she obviously does not come from show stock (although she looks purebred), and the show breeders are the ones usually paying attention to things like coat. Next time, if you want one that looks like the ones in the dog shows, buy one from a show breeder.
She is cute though!!!

Personally, I think your pup is just So cute. I agree with the others that you do have a pure bred papillon. Many dogs ARE purebreed but don't exactly meet the breed standard. The breed standard is the Perfect specimen of a breed, and we all know that not everyone is perfect. My pomeranian is a little too big for the breed standard, but we love her so much and don't care at all. As long as you don't plan on showing, whats wrong with getting a dog thats not perfect? They need love too! Again, your papillon is Very cute =]

Your dog looks purebred to me. You need to keep in mind that if you want her to have a coat like a show dog, you need to look after her like a show dog would be looked after. She needs a little oil in her food daily for great skin and coat condition. She needs a thorough grooming weekly (being sure you brush through to the skin) with a good pin brush. Be sure she's getting top quality food.
And even then, females all blow some coat when they go into heat - is your girl spayed? Also, some just have better coats than others - not all papillons are created equal! What were her parents coats like? Her grandparents? If they were better than hers, you can improve hers with care. If her parents had coats like hers, its genetic.

Some dogs don't develop their full coat until they reach a certain age.
But, she does have a short nose. From that first picture my first impression was a Pap/Pug mix.
Did you buy her from a breeder or is she a rescue? If you haven't seen the parents who knows what she may have in her.
I don't mean to be rude,
but even though a dog has "pedigree", papers, and is registered with the AKC -- does not mean it has superior genes.

It probably isn't as long as you're expecting because:
1) she's a female, and they just don't get as long a coat as the males
2) you're not givng her the intesive coat care that show dogs get.
and maybe 3) she just didn't get the genes for super-long hair.
As for getting her from a "breeder", anyone can put two dogs together and call themselves a breeder. The question is did you get her from a reputable breeder, or just someone who is breeding dogs. There is a difference.

I would say she is a full papillion. Her coat is not as long as the coats you see in the show ring, but also keep in mind that not all papillions get coats like that. I
n addition, she is a female and coats in females take longer to fully grow out (in fact the long, flowing coats you see in the show ring are generally on paps a few years old).
Just because her coat is not exactly like it should be, does not mean that she is not a pure-bred. Not all lines are equal and not all dogs in a litter are equal quality.

Your dog looks fine. Every dog is different, just because other dogs in the same breed have longer hair, doesn't mean she should too. But if your really worried talk to the breeder or a vet. Good luck ^_^

She looks like a papillon to me; many breeders just don't have success with breeding perfect breed-standard dogs. She is probably full papillon, just far from show quality. She is adorable anyway so why worry?

She looks like a full papillon, my dog is a papillon and his hair isn't really long either. Maybe you could try asking a vet of what he/she thinks, but even if it is not a papillon, your dog is still really cute.
