Why would you worship anything at all much less a living cell?

Well, it depends on what the cell can do. Can it buy me a new house or a dream vacation? Can it cause my enemies to break out in boils? Will it render my enemies fields infertile?

Will it smite me if I don't.

I'd have to know a lot more about the cell.

Exodus 20:4-5 says, "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God..."

no. we're only supposed to worship God, not cells or idols or anything.
