1st time baby hardly moved the whole time,in fact even had his legs crossed at one of the scans and his hands hovering about his head which made me laugh thinking how laid he back he looked! The labour started early on its own but slowed down to nothing till he was eventually induced and decided to finally make an appearance 36 hours later. He is now a very chilled out child, quite relaxed and falls asleep with his hands clasped behind his head.
No 2 A huge diffrence!Hardly stopped while I was carrying him. When I went into labour things were going fine till it stopped to the point I was signed up for an emergency C.Got as far as being prepped for the epi when I felt something and the midwife asked if I wanted to push and I said yes I did!So he was born naturally in the operating theatre. Now he is a very stubborn child who is adamant that he will do things his way until the very point where he knows he should back down then cooperates without a word as if it'd been his idea all along!

Have to say I'd never considered it either till my mum asked me in the summer what the middle one was like when I was pregnant since he has so much energy and it made me think! The 3rd pregnancy (I ran out of space with the question) was 'normal' compared to the other two and he is a very moderate and well behaved child!

I'm not wondering about abilities - I'm speaking about character.

My 3rd son was sucking 2 middle fingers during an ultra-sound and he did it after his birth as well. I craved chocolate eclairs and he says he still gets a strange craving for them once a month or so, he's 20.
During my first pregnancy, I craved Lucky Charms cereal and couldn't smell or even look at eggs without getting sick. This son is 25 years old now, and he still loves Lucky Charms and hates eggs. Also, he was born very fast - only 2 hours of labor and he has always been hyper.
So there are definately some similarities!

Very cool question! My pregnancy was completely unremarkable until 33 weeks when I suddenly went into labor. My son was born 7 weeks early at a pretty hefty (for a preemie) 5lbs 1 oz. He first showed his personality when he was in the NICU and got sick of being there so he peed straight out the porthole of his incubator all over the nurse when she opened it to take his temperature. That was also the moment of his first smile. He was released the next day.
He's almost two now, and he does thinks COMPLETELY on his own time and his own way. He hated tummy time and never crawled, is completely well-mannered unless he doesn't get his way and then blows up, and is generally laid-back unless, of course, he decides not to be. He's the best!
They should do a scientific study on this one. I bet the results would be very interesting!

I have had 4 babies , all girls , the first 3 labours were normal albeit all quite long , those girls now are all laid back and a little lazy . My 4th baby couldn`t be delivered naturally as she had her little head resting on her hand , at to this day that is the way she always falls asleep now . She`s 4 . ( she was delivered by emergency c-section) and is very impatient in nature ..
I suppose my kids` labours and birth do reflect their personalities .. interesting point .

My oldest was non-stop she would keep me up at all hours. She didn't start sleeping through the night until she was 4! She is very high energy, so yeah on that front she is the same as in utero. My youngest was neither a mover or shaker. Or should I say a shaker not a mover. She was born bum first at 33.3 weeks and stayed in the NICU for 3 weeks. She was a quiet one, until she hit 18mths. She hasn't stopped since! So, sometimes you can foretell their personalities, sometimes not!!

Yes! Pregnancy was great, he didn't move a whole lot unless there was music to dance to! Very happy and relaxed, but stubborn. My child is VERY happy, relaxed, calm, and still dances to the music. He was stubborn and didnt want to be born I guess..... I had to be induced because he was late and then it still was over 48 hours before they decided to do a c-section on me.
His stubborness is showing. If he doesnt get his way he will make your life H*LL!

My daughter Millie was the same as your 2nd born. Another thing i wonder about, is what we eat when we're pregnant has any connection to our childrens favourite foods.
I craved ridiculous amounts of chocolate when i was pregnant with Millie and I'm now faced with a stubborn little 2year old who refuses to eat anything but!!!

i never thought of it this way. i guess my labor does match my son. my labor started with horrible back pain. i didn't even know i was in labor. so it basically snuck up on me and surprised me. my son is very sneaky and surprises me alot. he is 4 and when i tell him to say his alphabet for me he says "no, i don't know how to do it." he will be so stubborn about it so i leave him alone. a few days later he was going through a book and would say each letter of all the words in the book outloud. so it surprised me that he does recognize his letters and does know his alphabet. he doesn't know that i know though.

My labour with my 1st child was long and my daughter is so laid back. My labour with my son was very quick and fast and hes got no patance and is so fracestarded. so i believe that your labour can tell you what your child is like ha ha.
