the child care facility that I am enrolling my daughter. They are asking, among other things, our household income. We live in Georgia. Our family does not receive any type of government aid (food stamps, welfare, etc). Am I required by law to put our income in this form? I personally don't think it's any of their business how much we make. We are not applying for any kind of reduced fees or anything... please help, I have to have this form turned in by tomorrow morning. Thanks.

the form was included in the entire package of entry forms. She touched on the fact that the form was for them to receive government funding of some sort.......

They had the same (or at least simular) forms in KENTUCKY!
Ask the director what exactly they would be eligible for? If it is the same form,
If you or your husband worked for the military the school would get some kind of bonus money. Same for an income that falls under 123% of the poverty level (federal).
If you feel like doing it do so, if not then dont.
It helps the school but not the government, THE GOVERNMENT ALREADY KNOWS how much money you make. I believe that the school gets tax credits and thus extra money. (I dont know if the money lines the director's pockets or if it goes back into the school or if this is even regulated)

I was told by the director of the daycare that my child attended that if a certain number of children were 'below the poverty level' the school qualified for some special tax breaks (headstart kinda stuff)
Just my opinion but if you notice too many of the 'head start eligible kids' (no matter what race) MOVE YOUR KID!
I visited a 'head start class' as part of my job duties and it would make the devil cry.
Things that decent parents teach their kids, these kids dont know (abc's, full name (NOT NICKNAME), colors, proper grammar) etc.
It is not their fault by any means but I certainly would not make it my kids' problem by inflicting them with this kind of companionship. Even at a young age it could be harmful (from trailers or ghettos). These kids new what 'blunts' were, they knew about domestic violence drinking and drugs (mommy's boyfriend beat her up after he got drunk, etc) PROTECT your child from this as long as possible! Even at that young of an age, when I child sees that kind of stuff at home, it cannot help but carry over into the classroom.

I suspect the form is use to validate if you afford to pay for the child care, but I am not familiar with Georgia law to know if they can do this or not legally before accepting your child into their care.

If in fact this info is for funding , if the funding is to benefit all the students in some way it seems all right to give them this info. But if it is funding for specific students only , i don't think you should have to disclose this information
