Maurice, I would not get rid of a religion of any kind. This world is made up of many different kinds of people and what they believe should be respected and protected.

Okay, but remember you DID ask.

Christianity and Scientology.

Why Christianity? They have been responsible for the worst attrocities in history (The Crusades, The Inquisition, the Witch Trials to name just a few). And they are, even now are atempting to enforce their morality on others that have different beliefs. They have no regard or respect for anything and refuse to accept that those of different beliefs have any right to have those beliefs. As far as they are concerned any one that isn't a Christian is a satanist, mostly becasue they refuse to acknowledge that any other belief system actually ARE religions. It will end the war of conauest that was started in 320 by Constantine, the first Christian Emperor of Rome when he decreed that the wole of the world should be converted or put to the sword. Besides there is a certain irony in abolishing the religion of the God that gave you hte power to do that in the first place.

As to why Scientology..well..my research and study of the subject, including interviews with both current and fromer members it has degenerated from what it was intended to be into something that would be best removed before it become truly harmful.

This is a trick question, right?

First, if a God, one that matched any world religion, gave any person actual "power", then other religions would fall away anyway, right?

Also, in the light of this event, other religions could survive, then those religions must still believe in God, and be only a different interpretation of the Divine truth. And it would be wrong to abolish a belief, just because it was a little different, wouldn't it?

So I guess my answer is "None!"

If left remoted, i.e. no different human interplay than between themselves they could have a lot of questions approximately the place they are, why they are, the place lightning comes from etc. Assuming you're able to secretly grant them with their undemanding needs (nutrition, drink and so) they could in all probability come to a polytheistic view, a god that provides nutrition, a god that makes it rain. in some unspecified time interior the destiny they could be confronted with mortality, the two via twist of destiny, ailment or ailment and that they could question no count if or no longer there is a few thing greater. this could of direction be an exciting test, which although basically proves that guy is calling for solutions and failing to get them on an psychological point, will characteristic this to "invisible" powers which could't be inspired.

I would get rid of (1) mine and (2) everyone else's religion. Many religions tend to devolve into exclusionary, confrontational societies rather than loving, supportive ones. Religion gives many people an excuse to look down at "others." It even gives them a way to define this other-ness. I'm Christian, Islamic, Jewish, Wiccan, Atheist (although this isn't a religion), etc. and you AREN'T! That means I'm better, smarter, more enlightened, whatever adjective you'd like to put there. Religion is a man-made construct used to define the undefinable and to understand the unknowable.

Here's a thought: Live the basic tenets that are carried by most religions - love and help others, be respectful to everyone and everything, be careful of your environment, and help anyone (and I do mean anyone) in need. This would give a shining tribute to the Creator, God, Allah, Jehovah, The Lord and Lady, etc. etc. etc. Please consider it.

Are those my only choices? I would much rather abolish the components of all religions that seem to breed an intolerance toward scientific inquiry and knowledge. Why can't I just do that and keep the religion.

I'd abolish the "religions" of professional sports and the movie industry. People treat both of them as if they were sacred, and the money could be better spent on helping the poor.

look it's like this i'm agnostic and i wouldn't ask him to get rid of any religions but i would ask for him to make people more tolerant and understanding of one another's beliefs and to stop the violence in the name of religion anyway i feel that everybody should have the right to have a religion and religious beliefs just as people should have the right to be nonreligious as well

Oh this is too easy!

Christianity and Islam.

Why because they both have caused hundreds of thousands of people to die all in the name of their God. Christianity in particular, because it brought us the Dark Ages and set the world back by 2000 years. Kvelduf pretty much summed it up about Christianity.
