What do you do when you just can't feel God anymore? I feel so distant from him right now, and as though I'm just wandering around with no real idea where I'm going. When I pray, I feel as though I'm talking to the ceiling, I don't feel any comfort or reassurance, or any kind of presence at all, which I used to.

I don't want anyone else telling me "you've come to your senses" or "it means you've finally worked it out" or anything like that. I believe that God is there, and people telling me I'm wrong isn't going to change that belief. So if you don't believe in God, don't answer my question. What I need right now is advice and support from people who DO believe.

"I find that when I get casual in my relationship with divinity, and when it seems that no divine ear is listening and no divine voice is speaking, that I am far, far away. If I immerse myself in the scriptures the distance narrows and the spirituality returns."
Spencer W. Kimball
It happens to all of us sometimes. I have been there myself. It could be so many things from sin to hormones. Keep praying, read your scriptures, tie a knot in the end of the rope and hold on. It may be helpful to have an honest heart to heart with your bishop, priest, pastor, whoever or a trusted friend who shares your beliefs. As alone as you may feel right now, I promise you you are not. You are His beloved daughter and He loves you perfectly. Seek out ways in the everyday to be aware of and feel His love. I will remember you in my prayers today. I promise to not even feel silly for praying for someone I only know as an avatar. God knows who you are.

OK NOTE: Who are the low lives that keep thumbing up the answers that say God isn't real? Whoever you people are, you have, LITERALLY, NO lives. Do you guys feel BETTER? Does it pleeeaase you to put people down? WHY are you guys even on this question? *IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE IN GOD, GET OFF THE EFFING QUESTION BECAUSE THEY DID NOT ASK YOU WETHER OR NOT YOU THINK HE IS REAL. THEY ARE LOOKING FOR HELP & COMFORT AND YOU GUYS AREN'T ANY HELP. She's not going to just stop believing in God because you guys say he's not real. If you think that, then i feel sorry for you. That you're wasting your time. You people can believe whatever you want to. "God doesn't exist." Feel better? Happy? You like thinking that you're right and they're wrong? Believe what you want if it makes you feel any better, huns. But don't go around saying that He doesn't exist when CLEARLY this person did or still does believe in Him. That's rude. You're supposed to be trying to help her. Answering "God doesn't exist" isn't any help, so you people can be on your way now, thank you. As for the person.. just don;t give up hope that it will all turn around. "A big fall follows up with a big bounce." I hope you end up happy again. Because you just have to smile. Laugh. Live. Try with all your might to turn the situation around. Try better in school. Find yourself. Stop worrying because it is a waste of perfect happiness. And no matter what, don't give up on God. I'm not all religious or anything. But i do believe in him. And i believe that if you try hard enough, God will see it. You'll deserve it.

I believe in God but I am feeling the same rut. I have tried all of the recommendations given and nothing is working. I am I a mess that I don't think can be remedied and yet, if God has a plan for each one of our lives, then I have to believe the "answer" is coming and it is a solution that I could have never imagined. But I feel more and more distant with each passing day...and its sad that God allows such trials....

...... therefore you remain gullible and require other gullible people to help you increase your gullibility.
Methinks realising the fact that gOD is just fiction is really scaring you. I hope you're frightened state does not last too long and that you soon enter the factual world totally

Honey, I'm sorry that some people just don't have enough respect for others.I know how you feel.I've been there. You know in your heart that the Lord is with you,and will never leave you. I just kept seeking His will, reading His word, and most of all, praising Him,by listening to Praise and Worship music.Sometimes, I would just sit in the silence and just quietly praise Him and thank Him for as many things that I could think of.Just telling Him I love Him.His word says" He inhabits the praises of His people". He does! Don't give up. Just wait on the Lord, and He'll be there.I have no doubt! God Bless!

Sometimes during testing of your faith you will go through periods of 'feeling' distant or 'feeling' like God is far away. The fact is he isn't - he is just as close as he was before, but to get a deeper relationship it requires getting beyond how we 'feel' and truly trusting Him. During the valley period (which is what this distant period is called) I usually will read over past journals and remind myself what he has done or simply read the Bible and pray that he will help to grow my faith beyond where it currently is at. It is very normal to go through these periods of distance, but don't allow it to make you doubt God or his existence - he truly does love you and have a unique plan for you. If you begin to doubt 'God' just look around at the vastness of the universe or anything in nature that is amazing to behold. If you don't already - begin to journal the good experiences and answered prayers that will help you during these difficult times. Take care and I'll pray for you,

The stock answer would be to say "He is still there - it's you that has drawn away from Him".
Do what you find brings you closer, eg have a chat with someone inspiring. With me, it's through singing with fellow-Christians in church.
Have you got a favourite Psalm which you find really 'hits the spot'? If not, have a look through. Many were written by David; when he felt low and besieged by enemies, or in praise of a wonderful God, and they can speak powerfully to us too.
We all have times of doubt. You still have your faith; you just need to find a way to draw closer to Him again.

In times of trouble and weakness God carries us through. He hears your prayers. Maybe you need some quiet time b4 you pray. I was in a shop one day and starting reading a leaflet on the shelf. I got to the end and realised I was crying. It was the Foot Prints story. I brought it years ago and still have it to this day and it still makes me well up when I read it.

honey read the following poem
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was
walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the
sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he
noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one
belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When
the last scene of his life flashed before him, he
looked back at the footprints in the sand. He
noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed
that it happened at the very lowest and saddest
times in his life. This really bothered him and he
questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, You said that
once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all
the way. But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, there is only one set
of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed
you most you would leave me." The Lord replied,
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would
never leave you. During your times of trial and
suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it
was then that I Carried You."

i think that God is asking us to love him with a child like love. Life in the real world makes our heart harder and without Gods help we become cynical and bitter. I had the same problem a few months back. I prayed and that night and i had a dream that was very vivid. i was a little child in a feild were i used to play and loving God was simple and natural back then. God love for us is like that and we should remove the distractions and doubts and love him back like that too.have you tried www.creflodollar.com .
