If I want to become an officer in the Marine Corps but want to attend a college other than the Naval Academy, is that possible? If so, how does it work? When do I do what?

Yes you can. You have to enroll in college and see a recruiter about joining their Platoon Leader Class (PLC), basically it is USMC ROTC at the college level. Once you join and sign your intenet to go into the marines after college you will be placed into your MOS. See this link for more info on the program: http://www.marines.com/page/usmc.jsp?flashRedirect=true

ONe does not need to go to tha Naval Academy to become an Officer. You can go to a college that has MCROTC (Marine Corps Reserve Officer Training Corps).

Just don't be an *** to those below you once you become commisioned.

PLC all the way! PLC get training done during college, not after, so there's no waiting. Plus, its less competitve than OCC. Also, they will help you pay through college, offering over $5,000 a year in tuition.

And the best part, you don't incur an obligation to the military. If after completing PLC, you don't decide it's for you, you don't have to accept your commision. No strings attached.

Sure. Get into a Marine Corps ROTC program at a different university, or get your degree first and attempt to get into OCS after graduation.

You can go to any college/university. I would reccommend joining http://www.MarineOCS.com they have a great wealth of information on their site and you can find out a lot. I would also reccommend doing a PLC (Platoon Leaders Class) either JR + SR years or PLC Combined. Good Look!
