It isnt usually given twice, but the doctor may allow if it there is a sufficient gap between the last one. Ask at the surgery/doctors office;

The chicken pox vaccination is recommended only once. They are however considering a second booster vaccination. If you are an adult, you should consider the new shingles vaccination. It is the same virus. Ask you MD about that.

Receiving an additional shot of the varacella zoster vaccine should not harm you; however, if you have already had the vaccine or the disease itself, your body would already contain specific antibodies for this virus. You could determine immunity with a simple blood test.

I remember a child who died after taking a second vaccination. I don't recommend it after what I saw.
The doctor who did it, could protect herself accusing the mother to have fallen while taking back the child home. The doctor supposed the mother having fallen over the child, on the way.
I knew the mother who told me nothing from that kind had happened.
The doctor was saved, but the child not.

I think what they do for that, is do a blood test, first, to see if you have antibodies against the chickenpox virus, if you do, then you wont need the varicella vaccine again.

I'm not sure because of the relationship with shingles. They can probably check to see if you have antibodies as they do with hepatitis.
