John 20:29-Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Atheism isn't the result of "analyzing over analyzing" the belief in God. Atheism is the result a failure of Religions to sell themselves to prospective believers.

If a religion doesn't convince people of its truthfulness, then it seems in bad taste to blame the person who isn't convinced.

I don't think being "simple" has anything to do with it. Some people just like things to be logical, to make sense. They will reject concepts that are too strange to ring true. There is nothing wrong with that.

I rejected the bible because it makes absolutely no sense to me. It is full of contradictions and things that I cannot imagine a loving God would do. That was simple for me.

If I told you that I had a better way and you could be eternally happy and that all you would have to do was believe in your heart that all life springs from the Cheerios box and the Cheerios will take care of you always - would you join me in that belief? Or would it be so illogical to you that you could not believe it? It's a fairly simple idea. Cheerios. Why can't you just believe it with all your heart?

it's not that it's too simple. it's just that it's a bad system.

here's one major problem with faith. how do you know what to place your faith in?? you could have faith in jesus, or allah, or zeus, or a can of coca cola. so,,, how do you discriminate?? you're just gonna end up coming right back to logic and evidence. you're going to say something like "well, the bible doesn't contradict itself where as the quran does" or "jesus makes more sense because he fulfilled those prophecies" or "two billion christians can't be wrong" or "i feel the presence of the holy spirit" or "sunsets are proof of a creator".

so,, you don't use faith anymore so than any atheist does. you only RESORT to faith once you start losing the argument. -- you difference between theists and atheists is not that theists use faith. the difference is that theists use bad logic.

Well it is easier to believe what you are told and not question anything, but it is harder to question eveything and never believe what you are told... that is the principle difference between believers and non-believers. Believers take the easy path, clear, paved and well maintained where everything is explained, nothing is unexplained and all is divided into clear cut black and white portions. Non-believers take the less travelled overgrown path where you sometimes have to struggle to find the way and you need to learn and question everything to come to any conclusion.. nothing is black and white.. we acknowledge the huge grey area that only questioning and the pursuit of knowledge can illuminate. Taking the road less travelled may be harder and more of a challenge but it leads to more than one destination... taking the road more travelled is easier and less challenging and it never branches or swerves from its course and only leads to one destination.

Some of us delight in going where there is no path and leaving a trail, others like to take the common path because they feel no need to leave a trail of their own and would rather not risk striking out on their own.

It's not that Christian faith is simple, it's that it doesn't make sense. I could say that this rock I'm holding is actually a diamond, and I could honestly believe that, but that doesn't make any sense, and that doesn't make it true. I have faith; I have faith that every morning the sun will rise, and I have faith that my boss will eventually give me a raise, but I don't have faith that an invisible god created the entire world in seven days, despite all evidence to the contrary. Yes, I could say God made it, but that wouldn't be true. Blind faith is nothing...faith requires proof. Blind faith is simply wishful thinking.
Hope this helps...

Denying the ability I have to use rational thoughts, common sense and the mind I was gives at birth, is not simple at all. Having 'faith' as you described it, in a God, wouldn't be simple at all, as it goes against everything I hold as my own personal truth.

My parents told me about God and Santa and The Easter Bunny.
Well, I was three and a hlaf when I figured out that Santa couldn't have time for everybody in one night, because it took me two hours just to trick-or-treat my one little neighborhood!
So, everything "magical" that they told me was a lie.
And I was right about all of the other myths, so why would I believe this stuff?
Morals are great, though, and I've got those.
I call that "good enough."

Blind faith does not come from God, it is man created. Reason and logic are gifts from God. I prefer to rely on the true gifts of God over the creation of man.

It's ATHEIST.

Faith is simple, all right. Simply stupid. Let me guess, this is the old "you think too much" put-down. I'd rather think than believe. DELUDED are they who have not seen, and yet have believed.

I love the way that believing in fairy tales is promoted as a virtue. GOD FORBID anyone should have an inquisitive mind.

No, its because I don't think blind faith is a virtue. I can't just make myself believe what I reckon to be false, to believe what someone tells you without a shred of evidence, in my opinion that is the definition of gullible.
