Having the Limewire program is not illegal.
Using the likewire program is not illegal .... UNLESS you use it to download copyrighted material, THAT is illegal.

If you are referring to the use of the program, of course not. Limewire's primary purpose is the sharing of information, and this is very legal.
As for the laws regarding the downloading of music, that depends on where you live. The U.S. is much stricter then Canada, which has, for now, kept downloading copyright materials legal.

No its not illegal, nor is it illegal to own limewire but it is illegal to download and upload copyrighted material.

the software isn't illegal, downloading and sharing copyrighted material with it is. almost every file you find with it is copyrighted, and it would be illegal for you to download and keep those files.
as a workaround to the law if you download a file and listen to it then delete it within 24 hours its sort of legal as long as you keep no copies of the file.

I'm not sure if it's illegal, but I know my daughter tried to use it and she had viruses like you wouldn't believe.
