What can I use to seal the wood to stop the knot holes from bleeding through the paint, I've already tried kilz.

Use a pigmented shellac. You can get this at any paint or hardware store. Kilz works great, but will not seal the knot and prevent bleeding. Use the shellac just as you would a primer, then paint. Good luck.

Did you try the shellac type Kilz, or the latex?
The latex is not nearly as good as the shellac type, which is the "original". "Bins" is another, but you have to use the "pigmented shellac" type, and mix it well. If these won't cover the knots, nothing will!
