If you mean, "Do they recognize themselves?", then I'd have to say "no." That's why many dogs bark or try to play with their reflection...They think its another dog.

So long as there is some daylight of course, why wouldn't they?
A mirror reflects light and as part of that process reflects your image back to you so unless the dog is blind it will also see its image reflected back by the mirror.
One of the hassles of having a young dog or one that has never been in house before is when they first meet a mirror. The dog can see the image of another dog but never having seen itself before it thinks the image is some other dog and this usually results in barking, growling and even attempts at attacking the mirror until.. you grab hold of them and they suddenly see you holding the other dog but you are holding them too. They really seem confused and uncertain when that happens, but quickly realise that there is something wrong and will walk up to the mirror, sniff at it etc and as it has no smell and copies them they seem to work it out for themselves that they are just looking at themselves.
PS-I make a habit of introducing all my dogs to mirrors as I once had one that attacked a mirrored window and hurt itself in the process.

Yes. My dog see herself in the mirror and reflections on things and thinks it's another dog. She barks and growls. Depending on what the item is, if it's something like my boyfriend's laptop I have to close it.
She's so cute though.

Yes, although I'm certain that most don't understand why they see "another" dog. The one time, though, that my yellow lab puppy went #2 on the living room carpet, he watched himself in a mirror that was against the wall. *LOL*

Most dog breeds can see themselves in a mirror.
The only dog breed that I know that can't itself in a mirror is the rare Transylvania Vampire dog.
LOL!!!

Yes, my German Shepherd always looks into the mirror.
I'm not sure if she thinks the reflection is another dog or if she is checking herself out.
She also loves to watch TV. Growls at the Meerkats on Animal Planet.
LOL

yes.........they can.
I have a female german sheper and when she was 4 or 5 months old, she thought that was another dog and barked to the image in the mirror.
Was very funny to see her bcoz she was becoming angry with the "other" dog.
