I seem more depressed and emotional at home and at school I'm nice, fun, and have a lot of friends that like me for me. Also, I get back aches and neck aches and headaches when I'm really stressed out.

Speaking from experience here.

I first started getting (what I NOW know to be) bouts of depression when I was about 9 or 10. My parents blew me off for years, until I finally graduated high school, started working, and got my OWN doctor - who IMMEDIATELY put me on anti-depressants.

There's no age 'qualification' for depression - it's simply a chemical imbalance in the brain (neurons misfiring). It's NOT YOUR "FAULT"... and frankly, it's an EASY fix.

I've been on anti-depressants for YEARS now, (I am now 45 years old), and my life is SO much better because of them. I often wonder how much pain I would have been spared if my parents had just LISTENED.

Talk to your parents about this. If you can't talk with parents, take it to someone you trust... but do yourself a favor and don't let this slide.

Feel free to contact me if you'd like. I have truly been there and done that.

Take care of yourself.

You should really be diagnosed by a health professional. Often, even if someone of your age is truly depressed, they will not use antidepressants--as they can work in reverse on teens (I have no clue as to why).

Stress can do horrible things to both your physical and mental health. It would be good if you could eliminate some of the things that are stressful in your life.

For now you could learn to meditate, drink Chamomile tea, use lavender soaps, shampoo, candles, incense, etc. Also, walking or exercising often helps relieve the stress. Additionally, you can get self-help books from the library--and/or relaxation tapes (audio or video).

Teens are going through hormone changes, which can cause some to be more emotional than usual. The doctor may be able to help you with this.

Feel better, and I'm sure that those aches are all stress-related.

Doctors might betray you. If you tell your parents they might in fact be the problem. Are you in a religion. I'm just speaking from personal experience. Everyone often says "Talk to your parents. Talk to a doctor." In a lot of people's cases this is the same as handing yourself over to the Inquisitor's office, and is likely to get you punished... unless you have SUPER-COOL parents... in which case, it's likely they'd be helping you out already.

In my case, it was religion. You might not even realize what conditioning you are being subjected too. Anything might seem naive enough on the surface, but scratch down a little deeper and you just might find the cause.

So, at 15 the things I think might be affecting you:

1)religion- very possible

2)school- though you said you were ok at school

3)health problem- there are diseases like auto-immune disorder or thyroid problems (plus others, too) which can cause depression. (I have these too)

4)taxes, government, societal oppression- you're 15 and I hope your not having to deal with this yet!

5)ummm, other stuff- family, friends, sensory overload (i.e. TV, movies, music, constant noise and stress, busy schedule)

Best of luck.

Honey, I don't want to belittle how you're feeling in any way, but ALL 15 year olds feel like this from time to time. It's to do with all the hormonal changes going on inside your body, as well as the stresses you start to experience with becoming older. I'd advise that you keep a journal, talk to someone when you feel down, and try to keep yourself busy as much as you can. As far as the back/neck/headaches go, it's because of muscle spasm, so when you're aware that you're stressed, take a minute or two to focus on the muscles in your back and neck, and try to consciously relax them.

It sounds like you need to see a psychiatrist, I was depressed starting at 5 so you are not too young. Get help the sooner you starrt the easier it will be.
