I'm looking for some help on getting my parents to let me get a labret piercing for my 16th birthday. Every time I ask I get told I'm stupid/an idiot/insane and a bunch of other mean names, and when I ask why they wont let me get one, their reply is "I HATE THEM"
I try fighting back with two different things one, this is my body, not yours. and two, WELL GEESH. You hated the fact that I wanted black hair, but now that I've got it you don't want me to get rid of it, ever think you might change your mind?
But whenever I try to say those things, I get yelled at even more and they storm out of the room screaming at me.
I know some information about piercings, I want to be a piercer/tattoo artist when I get older[you have NO idea as to how much I get yelled at for that] so I've done a lot of research on the things, but whenever I try to speak it I get yelled at.
So, does anyone have any ideas as to ways that I could get them to listen to me? :/
I don't want to go behind their backs.

Extra information!
I've wanted this piercing for almost a year.
Just thought I'd add, I wouldn't keep it with the stud, I'd change it to a hoop.
Also, I'm aware of the fact that you can get a retainer for it. They know you can, but they don't listen to me when I try to say so.
Job wise; when I turn 18 I'm going go out to get an apprenticeship. Until then, I clean my Grandmothers house. I'd also apply to jobs where I've seen the workers with piercings/tattoos. For example, Hot Topic and Target. At a pizza parlor even. It's possible to find a place that allows piercings, I know it. :P

The summer between my junior and senior years of high school I wanted to pierce my nose and get a tattoo. This was in the mid 80's when these things weren't as popular as they are now. My folks had the same reaction. There are a couple of ways to go about the situation. 1st. Grown Up style. How old are you? How are your grades? Do you do your chores? Do you come home by or before your curfew? If you do these things then good if you don't.. then start. If you can show that you are being a responsible person making the transition to adulthood, then that should be your convincing argument.
Your other option is to do it behind their backs which you said you didn't want to do, but sometimes you need to to make your point. If you're not out committing crimes and flunking out of school but they don't see you as a perfect child, then do what you have too do to get them to understand you mean business and your growing up.. Now, if you're 12, You need to wait until at least 16.
FYI, I did get my nose pierced w/out their consent. Dad was amazed and Mom was pissed, but only for a minute because I was for the most part a good kid. I had a job, my grades were OK, and apart from making my hair different colors and listening to loud music, they couldn't complain. I got My first tattoo my freshman year of college and just waited for them to notice. When they did, it was no big deal.

Regardless of how they are expressing it, do you think it is possible that your parents, having 20-30+ years life experience on you, may, just may, have a better idea of what you may/may not regret later on and what will help/hurt your chances of being accepted and successful? Before you say you do not care that what your peers think and you do not want to be accepted by 'that' crowd anyhow (I understand you are wanting to 'express' yourself and who you are), think about the majority of financially successful, emotionally healthy, stable people around you (I mean the REAL ones, not the rebels who convince themselves they are ok) and exactly how many of them are piercing and tattooing their bodies at all, nonetheless to the degree you want to. I am not saying you do not have the 'right' to pierce/tattoo your body. What I am saying is that, for the sake of peace at home, and until you are able to provide for yourself and are out in the real world, you may want to hold off on any further piercings or tattoos.

You will ruin your teeth with a labret piercing. Stud or ring either way. One, it pulls at your lip which makes your gums recede, and two, it also rubs against your teeth, wearing down the enamel. If you don't believe me, consult a dentist.

Ask them if you can get it and tell them that you won't wear it around them. Make them take you or sign the consent form so that you get it done by a professional and not a friend who could potentially really hurt you. Let them know that you'll have to keep it in for a few days to "heal" and that you'll respect them by not wearing it around them.

You are rebellious. Plain and simple. That explains it all.
I know my opinion won't change your mind, and you'll never get your parents to listen, because they don't want to see their beautiful daughter screw up her face with something so stupid-looking. So, just wait until you have moved out of their house and on your own. Then you can do WHAT you please WHEN you please and suffer the consequences til your heart's content!
