'm looking for some help on getting my parents to let me get a labret piercing for my 16th birthday. Every time I ask I get told I'm stupid/an idiot/insane and a bunch of other mean names, and when I ask why they wont let me get one, their reply is "I HATE THEM"
I try fighting back with two different things one, this is my body, not yours. and two, WELL GEESH. You hated the fact that I wanted black hair, but now that I've got it you don't want me to get rid of it, ever think you might change your mind?
But whenever I try to say those things, I get yelled at even more and they storm out of the room screaming at me.
I know some information about piercings, I want to be a piercer/tattoo artist when I get older[you have NO idea as to how much I get yelled at for that] so I've done a lot of research on the things, but whenever I try to speak it I get yelled at.
So, does anyone have any ideas as to ways that I could get them to listen to me? :/
I don't want to go behind their backs.

Extra information!
I've wanted this piercing for almost a year.
Just thought I'd add, I wouldn't keep it with the stud, I'd change it to a hoop.
Also, I'm aware of the fact that you can get a retainer for it. They know you can, but they don't listen to me when I try to say so.
Job wise; when I turn 18 I'm going go out to get an apprenticeship. Until then, I clean my Grandmothers house. I'd also apply to jobs where I've seen the workers with piercings/tattoos. For example, Hot Topic and Target. At a pizza parlor even. It's possible to find a place that allows piercings, I know it. :P

Good luck. I had been asking my parents for a lip piercing for nine years before I finally turned 18 and got it.

Their concern is probably less retail work, but professional goals. They are from a generation where body art was a deviant's expression and the people that did it were addicts, freaks and low-lifes. They just want whats best for you.
A labret piercing is one of the least They are afraid it will leave a scar or impose negative images of you on people that have now judged you based on your appearance.
The "my body" argument is moot. You are under 18 and under their guidance legally...so until you turn 18 they are in charge of your body. You do not pay rent or bills or provide for the family. It is their house and their word is law.
I don't think they need to scream about it, but maybe you have them frustrated at this point?
I don't know what you can do to change their minds. Just wait 2 years. :)

my parents were very adamant about this sort of thing when i was growing up as well. it can really be very frustrating but truth be told i am no worse for wear having followed their rules. in some instances i waited and did what i wanted and other times i had changed my mind by then. [i assume that is what your parents are hoping for] ultimately it is your body and your decision when you are legally allowed to make it. trust that your parents love you and just want you to do what's right for you for the long term. i am neither for or against body piercing i firmly believe it is a personal choice. if you've waited a year already, 2 more wont be the end of the world. and when your parents see that you went ahead with your preference they will have to respect the fact that you didnt go behind their backs and do it anyway and that you must be quite serious to put in the 3 years of waiting to get what you want. tough as it is, patience is a virtue.

I'm sorry that your parents are so harsh with you. It sounds like you are a mature, responsible 16 year old, but they seem to have made up their minds. Sorry to tell you...it's their right. You live in their house, they make the rules. I wouldn't get a labret piercing, I had one and both the hoop and the stud did horrible tooth and gum damage. Don't go behind their backs, just wait until you're 18.

Well, you have seven piercings in yours ears. That is quite a few. You don't really need one on your lips, too many more piercings and you will start to leak all over the place when you drink a glass of water.

I know you do not want to hear that you should just wait, and it seems like so long but it isn't. Wait tll you turn 18 if you still want it done, go for it. When i was 14 or 15 i wanted my belly button done and my mom refuse so i went and got the correct needle and did it myself then it got infecteed so i took it out let it heal and did it again, 3 different times... But would not want something infected on my face or in my mouth.

Well I'll tell you, target does not allow piercing they look down on even 2 holes. Hot Topic is changing their rules because parents of 16 year old who want to be pierced like the earning girl have complained. Starbucks allows it, but I won't buy from the Barrista if he/she has any facial piercing. I'm over 30 and most people think like me. There are only a handful who really think its cool.
If you want to better your chances of having control over your body, you need to wait until you are at least 18. Your parents are cool with the new hair thing, don't push it. Most would bleach you back.
Screaming parents and teens are normal. It happens sometimes it happens for as long as your parents live! Just put your head in the books, get good grades, don't do anything dumb and when you have your back covered you can say " I realize you don't like the idea of me being all pierced, but if you would listen to my side of the idea, maybe you would understand better."
Or something along those lines.
Your parents want the best for you, and they can only respond negatively because piercing is not the best for you. They have big dreams about their little girl doing something wonderful. Its a dream all parents have..
I hate to say it, but until you are legally out from under their roof you cannot change who you are by piercing.
Good luck!!

Unfortunatly for you, you are not old enough to make that decision on your own. If your parents don't want you to get it, they have good reason for it.
Many teens think they know what they want, usually just to defy their parents and then realize how stupid it was to argue over it. Wait until you are old enough to get it on your own and if you still do, then it's your mistake to make on your own.

there's no way u're going to convince them because to them u'll always be their little girl. i've been out of my parents' house & paying my own way for years & i still get grief over my tats & piercings. i say just wait til u're able to get a place of ur own like i did cause at least they won't be able to pull the ol "u're still living under my roof & i'm still paying for u" song & dance. if anything else, u can get away from all the drama by going to ur own house.
