I don't know about public property, but a question posted here can be seen all over the web by anyone who happens to wander into Yahoo Answers. It may become the property of Yahoo, but I'm not really sure. Your question may appear here briefly, but in order to access it again, you have to look in your own profile, or in the profile of those who have answered you. However, nobody will know who you are, since you are protected by the anonymity of your user name and avatar. Judging from the questions and answers that appear here, I'd say yours is one of the "saner" questions. The answers you get can be sensible, worthless, abusive or helpful. It really depends on who does the answering. If you have legitimate questions, I think you'd have better luck on a similar site, one which carefully screens the material beforehand. But if you're not particular, then by all means, join the motley crew here. Good luck!

yes, it becomes public property because anyone can view it, and yes anyone can answer any way they choose to. I have no idea who you are or where you are from, and you don't know anything about me other than my user name. While some people do give off-the-wall answers, I usually try to be more intelligent with mine because most people are looking for a serious answer to a serious question.

Yes I think it becomes public property once it is posted here, and we can answer any way that we want, as long as it follows the Yahoo! guidelines.

It becomes public, like everyone has stated. If someone is offended by your answer, but it is within the guidelines, well, tough luck for them.

it's still you're question. you can report abuse if you have a strong enough reason too. not to mention you can say @ the end stuff like "please answer this question seriously" or "if you are going to make fun of me, don't answer" and people will generally listen
