My dad is in the military and i have always wanted to join as well. Ever since i was a 5 year old girl I told my friends i would be just like my dad. I heard about a program where you can join the military and get assistance for college. The only problem is i dont know the specifics. I want to go to Med. school. I dont know what kind of doctor yet though. I have heard that this program will give you a full ride through Med school if you keep the grades up and then work in one of the base clinics for a specific amount of time. I would join, go to school, and then be an active duty member after i finished the specified time in the clinics and probably get a side job as a doctor off base. Does anyone know of any qualifications or anything that might shed light on the issue? I'm 14 years old. and I'm trying to explore my options for college. serious answers only please. thank you.

There are two ways to do it:

You can join the military and serve for about 4 years, and after that the military will give you money to go to school.

Or

You can try to get into an ROTC program. The military will pay for you to go to college first and get a degree, then you'll go into the military and serve afterward.

(The second is an officer program, and actually there are perhaps a half dozen other officer programs, all a little bit different but amount to the same thing. You have to trade a few years of service to have your school paid for.)

I think that none of them are enough to finish medical school to be a doctor. They're designed mostly to get a 4-year degree, and medical and law school are both longer.

The services don't offer a full ride through Medical School. After you serve your term, the GI Bill will pay up to $38,000 in TUITION (not living expenses, etc.) for where you want to go to school. You can also become a medical corpsman (medic), but this will not be enough to become a docter. I think you earn your EMT license however.

If you decide to go into ROTC, there are usually no guarantees that you will get a medical job. This requires going to college instead of enlisting after high school. As an officer there are a few more opportunites to become a doctor after your service term.

There are pros and cons to both. You just need to do research and pick. I hope this helps.

i individually graduated from Baylor in basic terms up the line from you and am now interior the Air tension. once you're attempting to connect the militia to do greater humanitarian missions, you're thinking of changing right into a member of on the incorrect time. regrettably, usa isn't too pondering humanitarian efforts top now. we are at conflict in 2 countries and nevertheless policing different areas. I do although, propose the militia for management, self-discipline, and national satisfaction as you suggested as nicely. you will get lots out of the militia and grow to be a lots greater advantageous guy or woman/citizen using militia. in case you connect the army, you will pass to OCS and then interior a pair of months, be in Iraq or Afghanistan for a 12 month deployment. they are hurting for infantrymen. I went with the air tension. It took me 2yrs of utilising in the previous I went off to Officer preparation college. So, no remember what, i might decide for what branch you choose for to serve in now, and initiate the utility technique. lots of the branches take a mutually as to get chosen and you will no longer pass top away. Sorry if this isn't what you choose for to pay attention with regards to the humanitarian situation. do in basic terms no longer decide for somebody turning out to be a member of the militia and hating it using fact their "recruiter advised them" something that did no longer happen. Sic 'em Bears, Hook 'em Horns.. Aggies suck!! :-)

NEVER go into the military mainly to secure yourself finance for college education. Because if you decide that you don't like the idea of having to kill someone you should seriously consider something else.
