Ok I am active duty military. I pay state taxes to California, but I am stationed in Washington (WA) state and have a WA Driver's License and own a home in WA.

For tuition purposes, does that make me a legal resident of California or Washington?

It sounds like Washington State - I would stop paying CA taxes and start paying WA taxes - get a non-resident tax form.

Good Luck!!!

In Washington if you have lived here longer than 6 months you can pay tuition as a resident. I do not know the rules for California.

You are probably considered a resident of Washington -

however -

there may be an escape clause for military

check with your school where the tuition is being assessed

the registrar's office or business affairs office should have a good answer

best of luck!

Many institutions offer in-state tuition to active military personnel. Check with the colleges of interest to you...your best initial source is probably the veterans affairs counselor.
