Does anybody know why none of my Media Players on my computer won't play a avi file, I mean its just one movie in avi format that won't play but all my other avi movies play fine...I downloaded Pirates of The Caribean--Dead Mans Chest....its 704 MB .avi...when I play it on Windows Media Player it says ''Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file''....Even Nero won't open it...Like I said all my other avi movies work fine except this one...any suggestions?...I want to burn a DVD....

Give http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ a try. It seems to work even when no others do. It sounds like you're missing a codec for Windows Mediaplayer to be able to play it. VLC rocks!

Even within file types there are variations in the CODEC. You may need a CODED for THAT type. It is very distracting to have all of these different encoding and decoding standards. Try to find the AVI CODEC that will play it. There are some sites that offer free CODECS. Just go to Google and query "FREE CODECs"
