In the State of Florida, how long can something remain on your background check? And after so many years what can you do to get it off your background check, or can you even do that?

Officer Baz,
How do I go about getting it expunged or can I? It was 13 years ago and it is giving me problems with employment.
Thank You in advance

It's not like a credit check.....what ever is on your record, stays there.
The only way to have it removed is to successfully petition the court to have it expunged.

It stays on your record FOREVER.. Unless you were convicted under a first offender act. If you were then it should not be on your record, unless it's a law enforcement agency conducting the investigation. In some states, you can receive a pardon, which says you have been forgiven of your crime, does not really mean much though, and it still continues to show on your record. The best way to find out if there is anything you can do, check out http://www.fdle.state.fl.us/CriminalHistory/ You need to contact FCIC, or the Florida Crime Information Center.

Unless you were a juvenile at the time - an arrest record never goes away.

Criminal arrests stay on your record forever, if it was a juvenile offense, you could try to get it sealed.
