Disagreements are normal in any relationship. They show themselves and are handled in different ways depending on the type of relationship. A disagreement with your boss is different to one with your spouse, your sibling, your parent, your child, your friend, your neighbor, etc.
Physical fighting is a different matter altogether. Beware of these if at all possible, except in self-defense.

If the fighting is verbal yes they are normal but if they become physical then i think that you should let the relationship go. There's no ned to be in an abusive relationship.

Differences of opinions. Fights in relationships are not normal if:

1) they involve character assassination
2) physical violence
3) verbal criticisms that goes after either party with a sledge hammer and a hack saw.
4) they involve comparisons to dead people
5) they involve hysteria and going ballistic
6) emotional violence

I hope you mean arguments. And yes, they are normal. No two people will always agree on everything. At some point, you are going to argue.

If you mean actual fighting, as in toe to toe, then no. Nothing like that is normal.

yes as in arguing. BTW when did it become commonplace for people to refer to arguing as fighting??? Not this thread in particular because I've heard this many many times before but just wondering. Usually when I hear of two people fighting I think of a physical violent confrontation and not just raising voices at each other, not that thats "not" a bad thing also.

Disagreements are normal yes...fights (not physical) are not uncommon but not terribly productive...it's more odd for a couple to never disagree or argue, than for those that do.

The key is, can you make up and still care about each other as much, or more, when it's over?

Fights are primitive and totally unnecessary. My wife and myself agreed that would never happen to us and we have lived by that. The secret is drawing up a working contract before you take the plunge. You need a plan with a strategy and tactics to avoid that sort of nonsense. Peace my good friend. Disagreements that end in compromise and agreement are normal. But disagreements that continue unresolved for a long time are a sign that the relationship is in trouble.
