No. Under no circumstances should people be forced to do military service. Especially after graduation, when most are looking into college

The options are out there via, Jr ROTC of most branches in High School, as far as being required no, I wouldn't think so.
I think placing the option there was a good thing for our young people....
Not all teens think serving America is that important, and who wants people there who thinks it is useless or non productive. Military life isn't for everybody!
On the same token those who do take it very seriously. They are the true proud Americans because they choose to make a difference.

No -- it would be too great a burden on the military.
Mandatory service greatly increases the number of problem people, and the service then just becomes a big baby sitter trying to deal with all the people who don't want to be there.
Our military is much more professional and effective now that it's all volunteer.

If it was the Cold war yes. But since there is almost no chance of another major conventional war being fought (nukes would be ultimately be used) and the war on terror is only effectively fought by Special Forces & US/Foreign intelligence, you don't need a million man US miltary & therefore you don't need a mandatory 2 years of military service upon high school graduation.

Even a period of service with the National Guard (a weekend a month and two weeks a year kind of thing) or the Peace Corps would be good for the individual AND for America.

No. This is the freedom of choice. I didn't serve for a few reasons. My physical condition, I disagree with the use of our military, and I am just not the militant type. Not everyone is physically, emotionally, or mentally fit to serve. There are many ways to support our armed forces besides actually becoming a soldier such as the USO.

I wouldn't say EVERYone, because I know lots of idiots that I wouldn't want guarding my husbands back in Iraq. I've seen lots of them (I've only seen females) graduate and it's scary. Don't count on that ever happening. Stupid materialistic girls that idolize Paris Hilton would probably rather kill themselves than even considering joining the military.

If we presented lower back the draft on the prompt, you would see a vast flow of youthful human beings to Canada or Mexico, purely as we did throughout Viet Nam. The draft under no circumstances worked besides. Politicians and the prosperous continually got here across a thanks to keep their sons out of the military. bill Clinton turned right into a cowardly draft dodger, and we made him our military commander.

I think everyone should serve, male and female, no loopholes. It would teach people some useful skills (in addition to soldiering and all that implies). It would also do away with a lot of late-teen/young adult whining.
Having said that, I have to say that I'd hate to have to do it myself! But it wouldn't be quite such a hard pill to swallow if everyone had to do it...
