board games and card games would work well. Also, watching movies and playing video games.

Often we forget to ask the kids first. Try tasking them. Try a "game" to see how long of a list they can make of things they love to do inside at home. Make it a challenge, maybe a small reward with the kid with the most answers. Then organize their ideas into what can be done when and with who etc. It really depends on what kind of kid it is. Almost all humans of every age love to be read to, and at their age it should be chapter books so they don't have many pictures so they can use their imaginations and then once again , make it a game for them to draw a picture of a person or scene in the story and then compare pics when they are done. And think back to what you and your parents used to do inside for fun. Sometimes those old games are new to the kids . Good luck

Build tents out of blankets, pretend to go camping, make valentine's day cards (or other seasonal cards), play board games, make up games, bake cookies (I use the premade cookies from the grocery store, less mess and clean up), play with playdough, or make something with clay, play cards.
Try to stay away from the TV - it's too easy to babysit and plop kids in front of the TV.
You will be remembered better and asked to return more if you engage yourself with the kids.
Teach them something you know how to do.
Have fun.

kids that age love cartoons and TV programs, try to record some of their favourite shows, playing games too is a good idea, you may let them on your computer, but their parents may not want their child exposed to this media whilst being looked after, but there are a lot of good hand to eye coordination games on here, make cakes and pastries too on one day, even boys like to cook and makes them proud when they present their parents with something they have made. If you don't mind the mess then painting and colouring

I know what you mean!! Thursday's I'm indoors with two little girls for 7-8 hours!!
Hint: don't put on a movie for them until YOU are super tired of playing!!
Another thing, parents really like it when you actually PLAY with the kids, opposite to sitting around and WATCHING them play. Try play-doh or resteraunt. Another fun thing I do is dance with them(if they are girls). They love twirling and it's not a really hectic, tiresome thing for me! Get to know the kids and find out what they really enjoy!
Hope that helps...
