The Sabbath was a covenant of salvation...without this covenant man would die.It is an understanding that man is sustained by God. His Sabbath the day of rest. The Sabbath represents many things including God's kingdom. All law is to be followed the wages of sin is death. It is like the tithes a percentage of every man belonged to God. This day was the day of the lord. The kingdom to come is the Sabbath called the day of the lord or the Millennium. All sin translates to death not merely physically but also spiritually. The law was to demonstrate this to man. It is the reason for Christ to come. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. the wages of sin is death. From Adam to present day man we all have a death sentence it is the reason God came to the world in the flesh Jesus Christ to overcome sin and pay the penalty of death for us.When we accept Jesus Christ as savior by faith we have entered his Sabbath "God's Rest" and his kingdom.

It's the sabbath. Jehovah worked for 6 days on his creation then rested on the 7th. Jehovah commanded man to do the same under the threat of death. Jehovah does that a lot in the OT.

This is what was called the laws of Moses. Death was meant to mean spiritual death to be placed in Hell. When Jesus came all of this changed we are all saved because Jesus paid for our sins.
In the old testiment days people had to burn sacrifices and many other rituals and God said that we cannot get into Heaven by works alone. We are all dirty in the eyes of the Lord. So Jesus took the weight of the worlds sins, past , present and future upon himself so we may be clean again in the Lords eyes. If you accept Jesus into your heart then you will escape death and live with God in Heaven.

depends on how you look at it. And what faith you may be. It was pointed more to the Israelite's, i think. But my understanding is, after you have worked 6 days. And on the 7th, or sabbath. you rest and thank God . And be thankful for this day. so you don't have to work. and give you time to God. and thank God for allowing you , to be able to worship him. And also to spend time with family, and if you work on the day that God had set aside, for family it would be against Gods rule. something like that. It would be a sin against God.

Don't forget that wonderful story about the man Moses caught collecting sticks on the Sabbath - presumably to heat his family, or even just for himself. Moses had him put to death.

Nice eh? I'm at work on Sunday. I'm well insured. Tell him to do his worst.

I can try to explain it to you. When God created the world, he created it in six days and rested on the seventh. Likewise, God wants us to do work and labor for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and wants us to rest on Sunday. By resting I don't mean laying on the couch all day I mean put aside your labor and work and relax. He doesn't want you to save work for Sunday that you can do the other six days.

A sabbath of rest to the Lord; in which the Israelites were to rest from bodily labour, and spend the day in the service of God, and to his honour and glory:

Yes, it is a bit extreme. The punishment under the law of Moses for several sins is stoning to death. A rather gruesome method, if you ask me.

Have a nice day.

This is an example of God, pre covenant. if u look up the NT for the commandments, it does not say that you die if u work on the sabbath.

I my humble opinion this is referring to your Spirit man. Because if you don't take time to go to church, fellowship with other believer, sorta of "refill your tank", your spirit man will weaken and eventually died.
