No, not as long as there is a variety of foods in your child's diet. I've worked in childcare for a decade and lots of kids are crazy about bananas at this age.

This is also still an age where lots of doctors feel that kids inherently know what they need and eat accordingly.

A fun thing for kids this age is to take 1/2 a banana, pour some Cheerios on the table/plate and let them "mash" the banana into the Cheerios so that some stick and then eat a bite of both.

Also yummy--Put a cold banana, some milk and about 1/2 tsp. vanilla into a blender and blend--makes a great milkshake.

And bananas + strawberries are a perennial favorite.

I would say cut it down to half a banana, half a banana is the correct serving size for even an adult. I agree with the other answerer that said you should check about the amount of potassium and if it is bad for your child to have too much. I would ask a doctor about this, but until then, just give your baby half the banana and you can eat the other half! They're good for you too! :)

It is kinda funny how everyone on here is obsessing over one simple banana! As long as your child is eating everything else he or she needs, then I don't see the harm of one banana a day. My son is only 7 months, but if he were 18 months, I would give him a banana a day if he likes it. I mean it is better than giving him junk food or fast food, right? If you feel confident in yourself, and the doctor okays it then don't worry!

Mine eats a banana or so a day and he is 12 months. He absolutely loves them and I think that's great because if you remember, bananas are, "quite possibly the world's greatest food."

Not at all. Bananas are a great food for that age group. They are rich in potassium, easy to chew, fun to eat, and very tasty. As long as your baby keeps eating them, keep offering them.

Not at all.Bananas are good for you and especially for kids. Let him eat as much as he want. He wants to eat the whole banana it means his body needs it.

No it is not. Just make sure you cut it up so it can be handle by the little guy. My kids all ate bananas at that age.

It all depends on the child, but my 2 yr old loves bananas but if he eats one everyday he also gets diarrhea, I have to limit him to every other day or so. I think it depends on the child really and how his/her system handles them.

Yes! Sometimes I can't even eat a whole banana... but I guess if you split it up during different meals it will be okay.
