Type of food eaten is usually the reason for the color: iron-rich=dark&so on.....also light color=illness....constant darkness could mean presence of blood in stool.Do not take chances with your Health, this could be an important warning,go see a Medical Professional ( "Doctor" ).

I'm not a doctor, but I think the number one reason of the color is according to the type of food you eat. If your fecal matter is dark, it could be from iron-rich foods or taking supplements with iron. If you eat a lot of dark green vegetables it could make it dark as well. If your diet is healthy and there are no other problems, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you take vitamins, stop taking them for a few days and see if you notice a difference!

The color of poo depends on what you eat. It varies. If your stools are dark or black in color, then that could be a sign of internal bleeding somewhere. Best to go talk to your doc.

the normal color is light brown or goldy. so if it's darker, it's not normal. but watchout if it's black because it can be a sign of bleeding inside your stomach or liver failure.
