If you know you're not "exactly my bfs type" then why concern yourself in the first place, you seem to make YOURSELF sound like the `fake' one, who strives to change themselves to make others like them...
Thats all an assumption, I know not either you or your boyfriend, but the way you worded "and i think he's starting to realize it." makes it sound like you've been hiding your true self from him because of fear of rejection.
If you're not compatible by personality, maybe fate didn't want to have you two together at all to begin with.....

aww.. I have kinda went through this one before.. but I refused to be someone else just for him. We stayed together for a while and when we broke up it didn't have anything to do with that. I just talked to him about it and told him that if he was dating me he should like me for me and I asked him if I wasn't his type then what attracted you to me in the first place?.. and we just talked it out and we decided we really liked each other just b/c we were different and fun to be around b/c we learned new things about each other each n every day. Just talk to him about it.. If he doesn't want to be with you you will find someone a lot better I promise. Good Luck!! :)
