You don't need to come to Yahoo! Answers to get an answer to your question. Being Jordanian, you should have an idea about how diverse the vernaculars of each of the Arabs nations are. There is the Gulf, Iraqi, Levant (yours), Egyptian, and Northern Africa. It is one language but each uses words that their Arab neighbors do not understand. But in the end, it is one language and they all understand each other, more or less. Northern Africa is an exception because the people there incorporate French into Arabic which sounds weird and is confusing to listen to. So it is only normal that you do not understand some arabic speakers across the Arab world. But you have got to admit, it's not as bad as all that. This is what's so special about Arabic, it is spoken across this region and connects people beyond religion and ethnicity. In fact, it is the 6th most spoken language in the world with 300,000,000 native Arab speakers alone. Well I'm getting into statistics now lol. Hope I answered your question thoroughly. Take care.

The accents and the slang really differ from one arab country to another. The easiest is probably the Egyption accent, helped by the fact that most of arabic entertainment is produced by Egypt or in the Egyptian accent. The hardest IMO is probably the Moroccan accent.
