I read this a lot on here. "That's not a true Christian / atheist / Muslim / ".

What's with those hollow statements?

I'm an atheist. I don't believe in a Higher Power. I know that my 'group' has lot's of people. Nice people, smart people, some dumb people, good people, bad people, etc, etc. But all people, and they share one thing: they don't believe in a god. Which makes them ALL atheists.

A person that believes Jesus died for our sins, is a Christian.

I think only a very insecure man feels the need to refer to himself as a 'real man'. An even more insecure man refers to others as 'those are not real men'.

So, what's the point of naming somebody else 'not real', or 'not true'? Is it to feel better about yourself?

That's the one gripe from myself, when you are very religious you tend to become so smugly self-righteous.Why?

Dear "The Markster" --

Good "honest" question. Whenever we human beings, whether believing or non believing, do not understand the culture or life of another, their way and their words may seem "silly" in our minds though to the one using the words "real", "true", the words have meaning and punctuate their deep feeling regarding a statement or testimony being given. For example, if I say he/she is a "real"
Christian, I am saying that person, to me, is a genuine believer. What is the opposite of "real"? "Unreal"! "Disingenuous"! Hypocrite! Does this not have meaning? Surely you would say, "Yes"!

In like manner, if I say the person using the word "true" is silly, I may miss the great meaning behind his/her use of the word. For example, if I say this is a "true" friend, it has depth of meaning. This friend is loyal and faithful to me. I am indeed a blessed person to have such a friend.

So there you have it friend. You may think a "very" insecure man feels the need to refer to himself as a "real man" when in actuality, if he were to say he is an "unreal man", we would all send him away to be "unreal" in a place for those of "his kind".

It is difficult to speak of the Christian's words and expressions since you, by your own admission, are not a partaker of his spiritual life nor understand it except by a shallow observation of one who stands outside the experience of knowing the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, Christ in you the Hope of Glory.

There is One standing outside the closed door of your heart knocking, asking, interceding on your behalf, praying you will open your heart door and say, "come in". "I invite you into my life to be who You say you are and of whom I have heard many speak.

Blessings to you Markster. Perhaps you are "Marked" for His great purpose.

You are right about that. Sometimes people use these things to irritate others.

Anyhow, we all fall short from the glory of God.
