When I got my female cat fixed, she got more aggressive and started beating up on the older cats in the house who were also fixed. When they got fixed they went through a brief time of aggression, but they also went around yowling, especially in the middle of the night.
When I got my male cat fixed, he just got nicer and more passive. He stopped yowling, and started rubbing against everything, in a way to mark his territory (at least it was peaceful).
So I would say, YES fixing a cat definitely changes their personality, for better or for worse.

A cat's basic personality will stay the same. What does change is he/she will no longer feel mating is priority over everything else, won't feel the need to mark and defend territory, won't be so narrowly focused on only other cats (potential mates or competitors) all the time. They will often turn their focus more to their caregiver instead, stay closer to the comforts of home but whatever your cat was like before the surgery, he/she will still be that way after--a cat who was aloof won't suddenly become dependent; an affectionate cat won't become distant (as long as you give him/her care and attention and love), a playful cat will remain playful.

It's possible. The most I ever hear about is cats gaining weight and possibly getting lazier. However, when my cat got fixed she did gain weight but shes not lazy and she soo affectionate. Also 2 kittens I just got are fixed and are in no way lazy or fat haha. So I guess it depends on the cat. If the cat is young its gonna be playful no matter what haha.
It's better to get them fixed anyways.
Best of luck!!

No spay/neuter does NOT change personality...personality is waht it is from birth. The only thing spay/neuter does is remove hormonal driven behaviors.
Spay/neuter doesn't make a cat gain weight either, what does is over feeding...cats don't require as many calories after spay/neuter for a couple of reasons...1 they are getting older so don't grow as much, 2 they don't have a hormone driven metabolism any more

It was not my choice, but my family decided to fix our cat, Max. He is a male black cat and as a kitten he was very aggressive. After he was fixed, he seemed to cool off a little. He was didn't bite or scratch as much. Now he is 4 and he jumps up on my bed purring and when I am REALLY lucky he even cuddles up next to me. Fixing cats tend to make them less aggressive and hormonal and it also helps them to live longer and to be healthier overall. (I volunteer at a cat shelter =) ) Max still gets aggressive when squirrels are outside or when my sister sings, but overall he is more calm and still has his tough guy personality about him.

Hi there...when a cat is either spayed/neutered it rarely affects the cats baseline personality. Male cats are more aggressive when they reach sexual maturity for example. Spay/neuter helps calm the aggession, the desire to want to roam and/or get into cat fights.

Yes it does if you have a male cat before it gets fixed it will proably spray your furniture. After your male cat gets fixed it will not spray it. It may gain more weight become more relaxed.

Yes. It's not uncommon for cats to become a little more calm and loving once they've been fixed.

I HAVE BEEN A CAT OWNER/LOVER FOR MANY YEARS NOW... I HAVE HAD ALL MY KITTIES SPAYED OR NEUTERED... I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ANY OF MY CATS. THEY HAVE ALL BEEN VERY LOVING MEMBERS OF OUR FAMILY.. THE 3 I HAVE NOW FOLLOW ME AROUND AND SLEEP IN THE BED.. THEY LOVE TO SLEEP AT MY HEAD OR ON MY CHEST.. NOT AGRESSIVE OR MEAN IN ANY WAY... ALSO SPAYING OR NEUTERING HELPS CONTROL THE PET POPULATION AND IT MAKES THEM HEALTHIER.. MALES WILL NOT FIGHT OR STRAY AS MUCH AND IT REDUCES CANCER RISKS... SO MY ADVICE IS SPAY OR NEUTER... EVERYONE WILL BENIFIT.

Not that I'm aware of. I have all of my animals spayed or neutered and have never noticed any personality change in any of them.
