You're probably correct about the same page, your not on it. He may not know your likes and dislikes well enough to purchase a meaningful gift after three months. After all, he's a guy!
But it doesn't mean he's not into you . Don't condem him for his effort (or lack of it) until you have a chance to learn more about him and his values. He may be sincere or just cheap and mindless.
If you enjoy his companionship, stay the course as long as your having fun and feeling comfortable (safe) in his company. Pop the cork on that bottle of wine and use the contents to loosen him up a bit. If all goes well you'll be able to ride that hobbyhorse to your hearts content. If you don't have him eating out of your cleavage after that - dump him and land another prospect before your next birthday! Happy trails!

Unless you have expressed a hatred for wine or alcohol in general, why would that be considered a bad gift? Three months is really not all that long to be dating. It sounds like you expected gift that symbolized a promise of some sort. I don't think that you shold be upset about getting a bottle of wine. I think it is a nice gift, unless of course it was MD 20/20 or Boone's Farm, but if it was a nice bottle of wine, I think you should accept it graciously and feel ok with it. Maybe he is short of funds right now. Cut him some slack.

If you are under 21, or the legal drinking age where you live, dump the guy. Men have different ideas than women when it comes to gifts. Sometimes, they need to be trained. However, it is possible that your instincts are correct and that you are not on the same page. Aside from your implied question of his being romantic, is he cheap in general? Find out now where he stands, but don't bring up the gift. Just ask him what he wants out of the relationship and see if it matches what you want. Good luck, dear.

Perhaps not, but a bottle of wine can either be cheap or special depending on the wine. It is a little out of the ordinary, but a nice gesture if nothing else.

He probably didn't know what to get you so he lived by the saying that "wine goes with anything". Invite him over, make a nice dinner for the two of you, and celebrate late, with the wine, until you drop.

Wine/booze is typically a gift purchased when a person can't think of anything else/better. I've bought it before when I had no better ideas but I knew the person drank alcohol...it's usually a "safe" gift to buy unless the person doesn't drink.
Why don't you talk to him about it. His reason for buying it may be different than what you are thinking and may not apply to my paragraph above (that's just typical, not the only reason).

That can vary, according to cultures. I don't think that's appropriate after 3 months, but it's not like he's giving you tequila. If you two have had drinks together, then I don't think it's a big deal. If you think he wants to get you drunk in order to get you to put out, there are better ways to do it (like the aformentioned tequila). This could be more of a boundary issue than anything else. No biggie, unless you're a teetotaller.

Now that sounds kind of weird to me too. I would talk to him and find out which page he is on. I think wine is to be given to friends, family maybe, but not your mate. Ask him what that means...

The question is: Do you enjoy wine?
Remember, it's the thought that counts. IF you arent a wine drinker, maybe he was trying to share a part of himself with you?
