Indians always boast of their great religious traditions and culture, their democracy and their secularism. The fact of the matter is if you are not wealthy or if you are a woman then India can be a very difficult place to live in. Corruption is rampant and so is crime and discrimination on the basis of religion or caste or language. People riot over statues and kill each other over temples/mosques.How is this greatness?

This depends on whether or not you take the word "better" as an absolute. A society should be judged by it's highest expressions, not it's lowest. For instance, the high development of the Islamic world, the world center of science for hundreds of years before the crusades, is a much better expression of Islam than modern radicals.

The practical, experience based information in the Vedic tradition encompasses and predates every other recorded religion and philosophy in the world. This tradition has been kept alive in India for millennia. Their renaissance predated that of Europe by over 1000 years, and produced ideas that are still the standard today in medicine, mathematics, logic, etc. An Indian proved the so called "Pythagorean Theorem" 600 years before Pythagoras was born. In that sense, the Indians are first and foremost.

I think you has this question because you have encounter some Indian with an attitude or experience something like that. I don't think you should Judge the whole society by one kind of experience. For example if you come to India during summer season and experience hot and humid wheather it does not mean that India is a hot country. In the same way there are different kinds of people everywhere in every country , continent. At the end of the day you should remember that you are humans. And they also are of different behaviour, nature.

The only country in the world which has the maximum number of communities is my beloved India, The maximum number of languages spoken. In India one can follow his own religion openly. Dont you think the entire World has become Corrupt. America Invading other countries for the Petroleum. Trying to prove it is superior. Internal tensions are all over the world. In Europe there is racial tension.

The communal harmony is created by the politicians for their benefit. You can see only we are fighting for Temples/Masjids but you are unaware of Feast like Idd, Diwali, Christmas, Independence Day, Republic Day etc. are celebrated with all exchanging wishes respectively.

Because of a few uneducated/educated idiots you cannot blame a society, a religion or a country.

In a joint family if there are few kids and they have very less toys to play with, they start quarelling for their share. It does not mean that their family is not great.

My India is 1000% Great not only but Greatest and so are we Indians.

What an absurd question. Are you suggesting that ALL Indians believe that they are better than everyone else? Or even MOST of them? If you substitute the word American for Indian in your question, nothing would be different. Yes, people kill each other here over religious disagreements, statues, language, and caste (social status). Are you just looking for a scapegoat, or what?

Indians are not better than everyone else, nor are they any less than everyone else. We have our rightful place among the human species. You are just blowing an eternal trumpet by high-lighting the stray incidents committed by a very few people with misplaced ideologies to tarnish the entire Indian populace…show me a country that has no corruption, no discrimination, no crime etc., etc. Considering the depth of your ignorance I don’t feel this is the right forum to give you and education on the beautiful country and the people of India

Every citizen of every country should think they are best. But when they come & see other country they compare & feel sad for their own country.( I am talking about G8 countries & rest of the world)
Corruption is the function of human mind. Which functions in self interest. but how to incounter the corruption is the main thing.
In a country where there are less resourses & more population may bring corrruption.
If administration is tight nothing can happen even in India.but there too lack of resources as a police thana has 5 jeeps & has to cover whole district.
I will surely say with the limited resources what ever is India doing it is appriciable. but curroption it is brought by us & has to be stopped by us for our own benefit.

.I WILL EXPLAIN U WAT WE MEAN BY OUR CULTURE.i m an INDIAN and i m a WOMAN

-- poverty and illiteracy exists in india coz indias population is large. it is large coz indias democracy is secular that is the state does not recognize any religion as n offical one. thgis is not seen in any other country, right? since all religions have an equal status here they love 2 stay here. moreover here only hindus n muslims fight n no one elseand that too is coz the britishers had been sowing the seeds of partition for 150 years b4 1947. in even ur contry fights on basis of religion exist just wen christianity is the official religin. so don t u think tat india is better in this case coz veen after havin so many diverse religions they NEVER fight on the name of religion.

--- secondly india is united. 4 example in ur country u wont remember a day when ur entire family have sat to have a dinner together and have shared every moment of ur life. but we indians dont remember a day wen we had our dinner alone. we are very much attached to our family.trhe youth has entire support of thier family n friens. and that is why a survey that was conducted recently has proved tat INDIAN YOUTH IS THE HAPPIEST ONE IN THE WORLD.

--- even after hearing so much about illeteracy and ignorance in our country, wen u ask any indian even the indians who complain abt india they would definitely say that in our next birth also we wanna be an indian.

i hope u got the point why indians boast. they boast coz they have every reason to do so if u still have any querries in mind jus mail me on vidhij23@yahoo.co.in. i will have every ans 4 ur ques.

howdy! you're being stupid! i'm married to a variety of "curry eaters" and have lots of them as acquaintances. helpful, some Indians/Sikhs are idiots, yet so are some europeans. i've got met a number of spectacular, friendly, good Indians and Sikhs, who do no longer go around thinking they're greater powerful than i'm. So, do no longer tar all of them with the comparable brush. And, attempt some Indian nutrition, it extremely is freakin' great! Peace!

A total of almost THIRTY EIGHT YEARS OF ONE FAMILY RULE. Still it is Sonia Gandhi who is calling the shots behind the scenes. What a Democracy and What a country…
