when she's ready she will let him mount her. i hope you know what you're doing with breeding her. but sadly if you did you wouldn't be asking this question. i hope you had her temperment and health screened. she's a wonderful representation of the breed and conforms to standard. and i really hope you are not trying to creat mixed breed dogs. if you are or haven't done these things, get the male away from her and have her spayed.

Your ***** isn't ready to stand yet its usually between the 11th-13th day that a ***** will readily accept a male. The yapping is proberly the flirtatious play before she is ready for him, dogs that are going to mate normally get to know each other and have a play before actually mating so this is perfectly normal. Some bitches though when ready actually wont stand for the dog and alot of really cruel owners/breeders force there ***** to stand which is very unfair, dont do this with your ***** if she doesn't stand just accept that you wont be having a mating with this dog either find another dog or if the same thing happened again then dont breed from her.A family relative had the same problem with there ***** but they never tried to breed from her again.Good luck.

Any basic book on dog breeding will tell you exactly how to recognise when your b**ch is ready to be mated.

The physical changes and signs are obvious and these usually occur around the tenth day of the season.

Your b**ch is NOT READY physically to accept the stud dog. She is making this as clear as she can!

I am appalled that you are considering breeding a litter of pups when you know so little about it. Whoever owns the dog is obviously no wiser than you are otherwise he wouldn't be risking his dog. Some experienced b**ches can become aggressive with the dog if they are harassed before they are ready.

An experienced stud wouldn't waste his time as he often knows when the time is right.

No prizes for guessing that:-

the dog and b**ch you are planning to mate are not Show Champions,

you haven't properly researched their pedigrees,

haven't had the health checks done,

haven't already got prospective owners putting their names on a waiting list and

that the reason you are breeding a litter is not to improve the
breed.

Since it's apparent you do not know what you are doing, here's a link to the AKC website on being a responsible breeder.

http://www.akc.org/breeders/resp_breeding/index.cfm

Since you skipped most of the steps, which includes preparing yourself, understanding the committment, health checks, etc. You can read the steps that apply to you.

My suggestion is that if you want to breed you breed for one of two reasons improving the breed or for dog shows. When you breed to full have the understanding as well as being educated on what to do. Also to do this under the care of a vet. That way you know what to do automatically instead of asking people on yahoo what to do.

It sounds like she is not ready yet. The bit.ch is usually fertile from 12-18 days. when her vulva is swollen and 'blinking' as the term is known..then she is ready. She should also accept the dog. If she still yaps, it may be wise to use a muzzle as some girls can be very snapy at their first mating

Your dogs ideal days to get pregnant are between 11-14 days. When she is ready for the dog to mount her her tail will curl to the side.

She won't let any dog near her yet, appro time is 10-14 days after the 1st day. When she's interested she will move her tail to one side when near a dog.

She is trying to ask you something. Allow me to translate:

"Why are you breeding me when only 1 out of ten dogs ever find a permanent home?"

"Why are you breeding me when millions of my fellow dogs are put to sleep in shelters ever year?"

"Why are you breeding me when so many dogs live out there lives in horrific conditions - chained to a fence, locked in rooms, forced to fight, abused - and never know what it's like to have a good family that loves them?"

"Do you know what will happen to my puppies???"

Maybe you should educate yourself for a while before breeding. There are many good books about breeding, whelping, and genetics.

This is the easy part, it will get much harder.
