This happens a lot with both boys and girls. It's the shyness that holds you back. Just be yourself and don't worry about what others think. Sometimes being shy comes on to other people that you may be stuck up. Even though you aren't. If any one should ask you, "why are you so quiet", this is a good ice breaker. Tell them you are shy and at a loss for words. If the person in question is an understanding person they will accept you for what you are. And people will also understand, you're not stuck up in the slightest. I had a very good friend when I was in high school with the same problem. He a took a Speech class in his Jr. and Sr. year. It helped him through most of his shyness. Enough to socialize better. Give it a try. OH, BTW. This friend of mine turned out to be a Captain in the Salvation army. There is no room for shyness there!! Good luck :)

Don't worry about it, my brother is going to be 20, and he has never had a gf. Just find a girl you like, and talk to her, and ask her out. the worst thing that can happen is that she says no, then she is not even worth your time, and then just move on to the next girl. You might be a little shy, but you can overcome that. try wearing your favorite, or most comfortable clothes and listen to your favorite music before hand, relax, and know that you will not be single forever, and that no, is just a small 2 letter word. Good Luck<3

Don't worry that much about it man, I didn't have a real ,real girlfriend till i was 17, i didn't even have sex for a year after that. Of course, I never considered myself attractive, or appealing to women in any way...
Shyness stems from self esteem-problems, although I doubt it has any relevance to the real issue. I think the right girl has just not shown herself to you yet, and when the time comes, you will know.
I could have spent my whole life chasing after women who sparkled in the light, only to end up exactly as I began, only emptier...
My best advice would be to wait, don't rush around and get yourself a girlfriend just for the reason of having one... put some meaning into your relationships.

There is no set age where a person HAS to have a boyfriend or girlfriend. To take up with someone just so you can say you have a boyfriend or girlfriend is not only doing them a disservice, it's cheating yourself as well.
Why?
Because maybe while you are killing time with someone you really don't care all that much about, the person who actually cares for you moves on to someone else thinking you are already taken so they don't try for a connection with you.
Love happens when it happens. Wait for it. You'll be glad you did!

I think you answered your own question.. you're shy..
Thats ok to be shy. Some girls LOVE that.. But you have to come out a little. You cant get a girlfriend if you never giver her the chance to talk to her. If you act shy, she might think you're not that interested. Girls usually want you to make the first move.
Just talk to girls about stuff you know about. Never try to be something you're not. I'm not telling you to become some kinda player and ask out girls or make a move when you're not comfortable. But just talk to them. eventually you will find someone with similar interests and it will happen naturally. Also, go for girls that are your type. Dont nessesarily go for a girl because she is concidered the hottest chick in your group. Go for a girl who you are attracted to physically and mentally. It will actually make it easier for you to communitcate with (since that seems to be your most difficult task, being shy)
A girl who has similar interests will actually be interested in hearing you talk, which will make you inturn feel more confident.
All i have to say is just go for it. Girls arent quite as conifident as you might think, so you shouldnt be intimidated by anymeans. And most arent as judgemental as you think either. They arent analyzing every word you say. Theyre just listening, and if you say something stupid, just laugh at yourself. Some one that can laaugh at themselves is sexy.. but so is some confidence.

OMG you're all of 17 and no GF. You're life has ended! The world is coming to an END!!!
Okay, so that response was bit mellodramatic. Then again, yo're worrying about not having a girlfriend is also mellodramatic. Give it time, it will happen.

Gather up some courage and talk to some chick that you like. It sounds like you have confidence already since you say you're good looking and that you have a great personality, so put those things into action!!

(it does me and my friends anyway). but dont be to dominate to where we get sickk of it. just let things flow.

Don't worry sweetie. Girls just haven't learned to appreciate you yet. You're young and have plenty of time. Keep focus on your school work if you're in school. Step outside of your shyness a little. Start friendly conversations with girls. Say hi, how are you today? Compliment her on her clothes or her hair. Most of all sound confident! I said confident not cocky!

Do you want a girlfriend just as an attribute, because you are of a
certain age? Get one when you like someone, not because you are 17.
I have no girlfriend either, and I am not 17 ;-)
