Go to the auction company who sold it and ask them to contact the guy who bought it from them, they will have all the details on computer.
I've sold a couple of cars because I've had to and wanted them back but I've only ever found 1 of then and it had been written off, good luck buddy it's a pity you can't do it with girlfriends too. :@)

what kind of auction, if its ebay, dont take the money and tell them its not for sale, say you crashed it yesterday - lol, if its all ready gone, ask to buy it back, you may be able to, if its a dealer and you dont know where its gone, ask them to contact the buy on your behalf and see what the buy says

Do you have the Vin Number oh that car?
if you do you can go to the DMV and tell them u want to know who and where has the car it's not free tho
