Hebrews 10:30 For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." 31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

I forget where exactly, but there's a passage in Deuteronomy where the children of Israel want to stone Moses because they don't have water. So God takes Moses aside and offers to destroy them and make a new people from the lineage of Moses. Moses pleads their case and goes back and leads them. Some say God is testing Moses. I think God is letting Moses see that their threats are not taken lightly by God. God shows Moses what they deserve so that Moses can be merciful to them.

I think that's the point of Hebrews 10:30 as well. Sometimes we think that the misdeeds of others that go unpunished must be unnoticed by God - or that God doesn't care about our hurts. So we want to take vengeance ourselves. But by sinning against us, our brother also sins against God and is held accountable by God whether there is an immediate consequence or not.

When we understand that the one who hurt us is in more trouble with God that he/she could be with us, we can set aside our anger and show mercy as Moses did. We can even get in touch with the merciful side of ourselves that seeks to restore that person to God in love - not in judgment.

If God told us we had to "just get over" our hurts at the hands of others, it would be too much at times for us to bear. Leaving justice in His hands frees me to forgive, and to be merciful, and hopefully even to plead to God on their behalf.

When people deliberately reject Christ's offer of salvation, they reject God's most precious gift. They ignore the leading of the Holy Spirit, the one who communicates to us God's saving love.

This warning was given to the Jewish Christians who were tempted to reject Christ for Judaism, but it applies to anyone who rejects Christ for another religion or, having understood Christ's atoning work, deliberately turns away from it. (See also Numbers 15:30-31 and Mark 3:28-30) The point is that there is no acceptable sacrifice for sin than the death of Christ on the cross. If someone deliberately rejects the sacrifice of Christ after clearly understanding the gospel teaching about it, then there is no way for that person to be saved, because God has not provided any other name under heaven by which we can be saved. (See Acts 4:18)

Hebrews 10:31 -- This judgement is for those who have rejected God's mercy. For those who accept Christ's love and accept his salvation , the coming judgement is no cause for worry. Being saved through his grace, they have nothing to fear. (See 1John 4:18)

I hope that this is of some help. God Bless you.

It is for you to forgive and you will be forgiven. Vengeance is mine says the Lord God. Those who do not accept me shall be cast into the lake of fire. No one is allowed to avenge only God is allowed to do that. Judge not lest thee be judged sayeth the Lord.

To me it means...
Do not judge people, let the Lord.

It reminds me of when I tell one of my kids this....
I'm the parent not you!
Let me handle this, just stay out of it.

They love to jump in when the other one is getting in trouble,
and try to add fuel to the fire.

You can compare this verse to God being the parent
and we are the kids..
