Usually it's a vine leaf ,but green cabbage works just as well .

I think you mean a vine leaf. Very popular in Greek and middle east cooking. You can buy them in most supermarkets frozen or in vacuum packs.
Try the Asian grocers if you have any local, there you will be able to buy them fresh. They are very tasty. A good item to keep in your cupboard for those impromptu meals.

Grape leaves. They come in tins from Greece and Italy. The finished stuffed leaves which are also sold are called dolmades.
