We have a female bassett hound named Daphne, and are getting a male today. I thought maybe Niles, or Fred and we are having trouble deciding. What do you think, or know any more cute names for a bassett?

Niles is from the show Fraiser, its where I got Daphne's name from. They get married so...lol

i think niles is a cute name for a bassett ^_^ but you should really wait and get to know the puppy before deciding on a name, cuz usually it is good to name them in a way that will 'reflect' their personalities.. and congrats on the new puppy, and i hope him and daphne will get along with eachother ^_^

Wait till you get the male, and wait to see what kind of personality it has. I think all male bassetts look like Freds, and all females look like Beulahs!!! I love bassett hounds. Good luck with the name honey, and have fun with your new puppy!

A lot of people wait until they've had the dog a couple days and name it according to it's personality traits. I like the names you chose, too--cute! We have a baby names book at the animal shelter where I work to help people decide. Enjoy your new family member!

I think you have to become a bit familiar with a dog before deciding on a name for it. Since Bush is such a dog, you might name him George. Whats in a name?
